The Rangers have signed 2013 fourth round pick Ryan Graves to an entry-level contract.
Graves is 6-4, 225 and playing for Val d’Or Foreurs in the QMJHL this season. He was traded from Charlottetwon earlier this year and spent the previous two seasons with PEI in the QMJHL.
This season he has 5 goals and 17 assists with 68 PIM and since being traded, in 26 games, he is a plus 22.
Graves was ranked 8th in The Hockey News Future Watch for Rangers prospects. They wrote, “has made big strides on and off the ice. Profiting from trade to better club and weight training.”
Gordie Clark said after the draft last year that Graves had a strong second half after a so-so first half.
So honored to have signed with the @March 18, 2014

We've been good turning later round picks into quality NHL players, hope we have another one here.

I think this kid has potential to grow because he wants to, but I'm not sure he's star material. We'll learn a lot about his skill limits in a year and know whether to keep him.

Definitely wont be a star, but if we found another diamond in the rough like a John Moore type, and at his size, he could find his way into the top-4 for us down the road. But he's at least 2 years away, for now

Also with MCD and Girardi and hopefully Staal (next year) signed long term we don't need stars on the back end just guys that can play defense.

I'm with you there. I just think we need someone to step up on that end of things.
Like Dave son says maybe not a star, but I think we need a serious upgrade at least.

Guys that are one dimensional "stay-at-home" defensemen as overage juniors tend to become career AHLers at the next level. Hell, even the aforementioned John Moore had 47 points in 61 games in his only OHL season. But best of luck to the kid

Agreed, but we need the size, and he adds that, let him learn a thing or two from Mac and Girardi.
