Joey Gallo Home Run Video: Two home runs for Gallo last night

Joey Gallo Home Run Video: Texas Rangers third base prospect Joey Gallo continues to hit home runs, mashing two last night for the Round Rock Express in their 6-4 loss to Omaha.


Gallo, 22, is currently sporting a .346/.419/.923 slash line in 7 games for Round Rock so far this season, with 4 home runs, 4 walks (1 intentional), and 7 Ks. That's a pretty nice looking 1342 OPS for the year. Its still early, and Gallo needs to spend more time in AAA facing more advanced pitchers than he saw in AA and working on making the adjustments he needs to succeed in the majors, but if he keeps this up, the Rangers are going to have a decision to make during the summer.

Was very impressed with Hamels shutdown performance to clinch last year. I do not have buyers remorse at this point if you feel like Jarrod E is still Ranger relevant BTW also impressed with Roogie in postseason. To me this is huge. We are playoff contenders IMO but we need players who show up clutch. That is why I still have a good feeling re Profar and want to see how other young guys handle the biggest stage

Could be wrong, but it looks to me like Gallo may focusing on keeping his bat in the zone longer and maybe shortening it just a bit on both those home runs.

I think it is going to have to take DeShields or Mazara being in a slump before Banny goes with Rua on even a semi-regular basis. Moreland and Desmond would have to be in very prolonged slumps for him to take them out of the lineup very much.

What is the threshold for a very prolonged slump? Because Desmond is slumping. Now.

Honestly, if Desmond is still below the Mendoza line when Hambone is back then I'd rather have Josh in the lineup.

Just go to the rest room or fridge when our #5 / #6 hitters are up. Banny rooster is filling out a lineup card like he is Wash. I don't think the Desmond thing is as bad as Murphy was a few years ago, but it's trending in that direction in a big way and Desmond could certainly use a day off to think about his terrible performance up to this point.
