Yep, the ump's call in the 9th was bad, but the Rangers are the reason the rangers lost this game. they played like crap against a scrub team, and they deserved to lose.

It's almost like they knew that the A's lost, so they let up.

Just checked and Nathan had pitched 3 games in a row on 2 other occasions and was fine. Thought maybe fatigue would be an issue but he obviosly just did not have it tonite

It just pisses me off when an ump misses a pitch that far outside of the zone. It's a joke. It wasn't even a borderline pitch or one that broke and could have fooled the ump. It was a fastball that was at least 2 whole feet outside. It was just as bad as calling a bouncer in the dirt a strike. That ump has no business being in the big leagues if his vision is that poor. Maybe Murphy still wouldn't have gotten a hit, but with that first pitch called a strike, it changed the whole at-bat and like jta said, it forced Murphy to swing at pretty much anything.

This team just can't sweep anybody. Its great taking the series but Oak is only 3 games back with plenty of time to catch us. Great chance to increase the lead and total failure. Yeah Nathan stunk, and the ump's zone was ridiculous on Murphy, but Soto lost this game with his typical horrible AB in the 8th. I miss Torrealba. And I hated Torrealba.

Yeah, the Rangers were in complete command with 1 out in the bottom of he 8th, a 4-2 lead, and the bases loaded. Then the wheels just completely fell off. Soto worked a 3-1 count only to weakly ground into a double play. Awful. Then Nathan pitched his worst inning of the year, allowed a HR to a minor leaguer with no power at all, and coughed up the lead. Awful. Then the home plate ump decided he wanted to go home and cheated Murphy out of a potentially game-tying AB.

Literally everything that had to go wrong to lose did.

Nathan just look like he did not have the heat tonite. His last blown save was April 11th. Not too shabby. I agree with you on Soto. He leaves too many runners stranded. Hitting 205 and and 0- for his last 12 with 5 k's just is not good enough. Having said that I would still take him over Torreabla defensively. Think Soto will be a little better when Naps comes back so he can take the load off him.
