I think they can simply put him back on the DL. I don't see what would stop them from doing so. They can always claim he isn't fully healed I would think.

Wouldn't they have to shut him down for 15 days, though?

And in this article we may see why Choice is being called up because of supposed issues with Choo and his back along with Mitch and playing in Toronto all may not mix. Plus all the innings Kela has pitched.

You just need to prove that he still isn't healthy, but at some point he would have to stop pitching and just be on the DL (he's still technically on the DL)

He wouldn't be able to play in games, but he could pitch in simulated games and then go through another rehab time in the minors. At least I think they can do that.

In order for him to be maintained in the minors, wouldn't we have to DFA him first?

He has options remaining (I think)... but with his service time, they would have to ask him first. (Which, for his health/future/best interest... it would benefit him greatly to accept being sent down.)

He doesn't have options but he can accept an assignment to the minors once his rehab assignment is up to keep working

You guys are getting into the into the nuisances of "he's been down, second option, was-on-the-40-man, once he's here for his second stent, then we can't send him down without exposing him, etc"
