Two hits for Langford tonight, including a triple, along with a walk. Another HR from Abimelec Ortiz, also.

Anyone know why Ohtani pitched only 4 innings tonight?

It’s so nice that because the major league team is in great shape, those kids can take the time they need to develop and move thru the system without being rushed.

How would you guys rate our trade deadline?

honestly…. I love it.

for Chapman : we gave up Ragans who the organization seemed to give up on. Even if KC fixes Ragans, that team will stink for awhile. The other guy was just a lotto prospect,

for Scherzer: we gave up 1 prospect. Acuna was blocked by semien / Seager. He brought more value to the organization by giving us 1 year and 1/2 of Scherzer.

Montgomery / Sutton : Once again, Saggesse was blocked. Losing Roby kind of sucked, but King was a pitcher ranger fans saw way too much of and gave off Michael kirkman vibes.

so we gave up a pitcher we didn’t have a plan for anyway, a lotto prospect, 2 good middle infielders who were blocked, and 1 pitcher who might be really good someday in Roby,

The Mets fiasco - Paying $35 mill for Scherzer, $35 mill for Verlander and another $17.5 mill on a vesting option if he pitches 140 inning in 2024, $11 mill this year and $8 mill next year for James McCann, $24 mill this year for Robinson Cano, about $3.5 mill for Flexen, $4.4 mill for Eduardo Escobar, $3.3 mill for Canha and every July 1st $1.19 mill for Bobby Bonilla from 2011-2035. How ticked would you be to be a Mets fan?

Yep! As Uncle Siggy pointed out, he didn’t have his best fastball control today, but he made it work.

I actually think his final stat line ended up fairly close to what we can expect moving forward- 6 or 7 innings pitched, 2 or 3 runs allowed, 8 to 10 K’s, mostly wins or no-decisions with a few losses sprinkled in.
His slider looked a lot better nothing hard was hit off of it, that's been his big trouble pitch this year leaving it up in the zone...

Each team's biggest question after the Trade Deadline

Rangers: Should they have gotten another bat?
As general manager Chris Young says, you can never have too much pitching. The Rangers' only Trade Deadline acquisitions were two starting pitchers, a reliever and a defense-first catcher. That will no doubt revamp the banged-up pitching staff, but amid a battle with the Astros in the AL West, did they need another bat for the stretch run? Will the DH rotation of Mitch Garver, Robbie Grossman and Brad Miller be enough to keep Texas afloat? Young said at the Deadline that he’s confident with the depth and versatility of the lineup as it stands. That’ll be put to the test down the stretch. -- Kennedi Landry

The only bat I seen worth getting was Bellinger but when the Cubs started streaking they pulled him back, his OPS was over 1.000 against both LH and RH pitching. I suggested during the off season the Rangers kick the tires on him to see if they could get him to come here and get his act together. Don't know if they did or not but I was surprised he got that much money out of the Cubs after 2 bad years, maybe that's why he didn't end up here too much money... :noidea:
