No surprise really. He hasn't been the old Max Scherzer for a while now. Not sure why fans are excited about him. He's a beat up often injured guy getting by on reputation. I expect Montgomery to be a much better pick up.

The elephant in the room could eventually be that Scherzer is our worst starting pitcher. That would be awful because he is never coming out of the rotation. Hopefully, it doesn't come to that.

So you’re just going to ignore his 2.29 ERA from last season, I guess?

And “often injured”? Do you even bother with facts at all? Guy has pitched in 14 full major league seasons (not counting his brief rookie season and the pandemic-shortened 2020), and he’s made 30 or more starts in 12 of those.

Rangers got Scherzer hoping he could regain his old form I guess. But he's getting knocked around today by one of the worst lineups in baseball.

At this point he is simply an extremely overpaid innings eater. Rangers had to know they were getting a washed up broken down pitcher.

Mets fleeced us for Acuna. But we were desperate. Oh well.

Josh has refused his assignment to AAA and has elected to rake
