Agree. Heim is our #1 catcher and back up is not a problem imo.
so should we just release him and get nothing in return. i would rather see him get some time at DH, C & 1B and maybe pick up some prospects at the Trading deadline in a trade that way we don't trade IKF & Henriquez and end up with nothing

he would get time at C and 1B. plus he would be under Arbitration for next year so he would be a cheap 1-year option so would not affect the future of the Rangers.

Starting pitching and Bullpen should be our main focus this off-season after we re-sign Martin Perez
I am saying it complicates playing time if Garver can only DH. Even if he plays 1B though not as much

No definitely picking up his option is likely but far less attractive if he is not catching

Then a trade if someone makes sense

like i said he will probably get time at catcher and 1B but probably Heim has lessened Garver's time perspective at catching for the Rangers

at a time when we should be looking at prospects i just think it is dumb to bring in someone who doesn't have any future with the team

Keuchel is only spot starting because a prospect we were looking at got hurt and can't pitch.

From Scott Lucas:

Josh Smith's maximum MLB exit velocity of 104 ranks at only the 16th percentile, but last night he hit four balls in the solid 94-102 range, which is what he does when he's on his game.

Like Cody Bradford, Zak Kent began the year worryingly poorly but has pitched much better since June:

April-May: 15% BB rate, 18% SO
June-August: 5% BB, 29% SO

He's yet another player I don't think will be added to the 40, but I am at least thinking about him. Having these tough and risky upcoming decisions is good. You want a system in which your ninth or and tenth-best 40/R5 prospects are being eyed by the competition.

Roby's stats don't betray any sign of exhaustion, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's feeling a touch weary at 95 innings compared to 2021's injury-shortened 22 and 2020's covid-shortened zero. The Rangers are continuing to let him pitch, but he's tapered down to 70-79 pitches lately instead of the 90+ he threw in June.

Keuchel is going to pitch five innings, get two Ks, give up five runs (all HRs) three walks and will still get credited with the win because Seager, Semien, Lowe and Heim will all have multi-hit games and drive in runs. 6-5 Rangers. Beasley continues his one-run game "dominance".
