Teams have figured out Santana. Now we will see if he can make adjustments.

Solak keeps getting it done.

I wonder if it is because he has played more this year by far than in any year since his rookie year.
He may just need a 3 or 4 game break.

They are afraid of how much it will cost to keep these guys when they are fully proven so they sign them to extensions too early. They are too cheap for their own good.

His at bats have been really bad lately. 3 of them last night were awful. 2 from the right side and 1 from the left, looked like he was just trying to go sit back in the dugout

Both Harrison and holland come to mind. Those were both very terrible.

Kevin Sherrington is making it clear in an article in the DMN today in a comparison between Calhoun and Odor. One gets it and one does not. I am really glad that Solak showed up on the scene. And Calhoun for that matter.

Both were great acquisitions. It would appear that JD has put the right people in place to be able to find talent. I am hoping we make another trade or two in the offseason and find another nugget or two.

So do I plus I hope we go for some, at least 2, quality FA's and not the typical JD signings over the last few years

Agree. I know many were not happy with what we did at the trade deadline but I think we made some wise moves. At least it looks that way so far.

2 of 3 perhaps but trading Odor is not likely. Who would want a contract/player like him.

We would have to eat all but about $2-3 million per year of that contract. That is part of the cost of doing business though.

Blaine Crim and Curtis Terry are to names to keep in mind as far as future 1B. Terry could be a couple of years away and Crim would probably be 3 years away. Then there is always the possibility that they move one of the 3B they just drafted to 1B as well. Whatever they decide for 1B after this year might be a short term solution.

Of course they could sign Rendon and Abreu this offseason amd change those situations dramatically.
