Looks like we will end April with Adolis and Josh Smith finishing as the top two Rangers in OPS. Smith finishes first in average at .317, some 25 points higher than second place finisher, Adolis Garcia.

Winn struck him out on that 5th pitch and the umpire had other ideas for some reason.

I guess because of the delay to start the game due to the removal of the bee hive, but why.

That is easy to say Jeff. It could be right or not. We can fit in what we want to fit in after the fact. But from what I have heard is they changed his stance.
I think he changed more than his stance, if I am not mistaken.

That is probably true and I have always liked the guy as a person so I am glad he is doing well. We have a lot of guys right now who are playing everyday and they are doing terrible. That is not a cure all. Just maybe he has figured it out. It took a Cruz a long time. He would do well in the minors and get called up and struggle. That went on and on and then all of a sudden it was like a lightbulb came on.

One of the things I have always liked about Josh is that he seems to have a high baseball IQ, and probably a high overall IQ as well. Those kind of guys are teachable and are smart enough to figure some things out on their own. That coupled with his tremendous success in the minors made me bullish on him, but the struggles last year had even me wondering. Lol

He does seem like a good guy and his wife seems like a good young lady as well. It is really easy to be optimistic in his case. Hopefully, he continues to have success.

Me too. I always liked the video that his wife and he had when Josh was being called up to either AAA or MLB.

I wish the Rangers would consider moving Cory down in the lineup until he starts hitting. Put Smith in the 2 hole.
Let Smoth Leadoff and Marcus 2

Besides the stance Josh looks like he’s seeing pitches better and handling the FB better
He has always seen alot of pitches.

Little stronger so more balls drop versus warning track blower. Definitely an underrated runner.

To me he is like a baseball version of a basketball gym rat

I agree. One knock on him even at the minor league level was he didn't hit the ball with authority. Not so this year.
