I think he will have to if we ever have a healthy lineup once Jung gets back. At least he better be the odd man out.Bochy will never sit him now.

If Jung comes back just after Smith has gone into a slump and Leody has just had a good stretch of games, then Bochy might go with the hot hand. I really hope that doesn't happen. That would be the perfect storm.I think he will have to if we ever have a healthy lineup once Jung gets back. At least he better be the odd man out.
I agree but have wondered why Leody has been playing this long. He has had every chance to improve and failed.I think he will have to if we ever have a healthy lineup once Jung gets back. At least he better be the odd man out.
Not much to worry about. If Jung comes back just after Smith has gone into a slump and Leody has just had a good stretch of games, then Bochy might go with the hot hand. I really hope that doesn't happen. That would be the perfect storm.
Okay, this is just me. I know Bochy and CY will do it differently. If these 7 are all available, here is my pecking order for who should startSomewhere around June 1st, the Rangers could have the following starters available:
Scherzer
Eovaldi
Gray
Lorenzen
Dunning
Bradford
Heaney
How would you like to see this group structured for the remainder of the season assuming we only get 1-2 months of deGrom and Mahle this season?
May we go 3-0. That would be nice.
That's tough because Lorenzen has pitched better than Dunning if it wasn't for sending Lorenzen out after 6 shutout innings and giving up 4 in the 7th. So they are neck and neck but Dunning has shown he can pitch well out of the pen. I'm not sure how Lorenzen would do.Okay, this is just me. I know Bochy and CY will do it differently. Scherzer and Lorenzen are so close in my mind that if Lorenzen is pitching lights out, I send Scherzer to the pen. I know that will upset some, but I already hesitate to send Scherzer back into the rotation due to his fragility. I hate the idea of sending someone to the pen while Scherzer stays in the rotation, and then have Max get hurt 3 or 4 starts later, only to have the other guy no longer stretched out.
All of that being said, if any of those guys, other than Eovaldi or Bradford, start pitching poorly this month, then I would certainly send them to the pen. It should be merit based.
Certainly, at this point, I cannot see Mahle going to the rotation barring some injuries.
Better ask HeaneyMay we go 3-0. That would be nice.
