Crabcakes and ACL tears
Damn Delmon Young used to be so good. Now he was just DFAd by the Phils
The only way I see Cruz signing back here is if he still feels like he owes this team something, or if he just isnt comfortable moving anywhere else. I don't see us getting into a bidding war for him
He does indeed love it here, but I agree, the Rangers will not get into a bidding war. Frankly, I'm expecting him to sign a 3 year contract without hitting free agency. But we'll see.
I'd be happy with Rios/Martin/Cruz for next season, and having Gentry as the backup.

I have no problem with Cruz being a Ranger again if the price is right and he may just give us a home team discount. But I want Garza to be the top priority.
Agree on Garza first.I have no problem with Cruz being a Ranger again if the price is right and he may just give us a home team discount. But I want Garza to be the top priority.
What is Cruz's salary -$8 million per year? Would we really make him a qualifying offer of $13-14m?? Pretty huge raise for a guy that screwed the team over...For Murphy isn't that a slippery slope? In order to get the FA compensation draft pick, won't we have to offer Murphy the "qualifying offer" of around $13-14 Mil? For what he makes now (under $6 mil) won't he grab at it? Or do you think the Rangers will pass on the qualifying offer and do without the compensation draft pick?
Now the question is, how much playing time does gentry lose to Murphy?
Who knows but he should understand the importance of signing Rios and why JD got him. If he doesn't, it only proves what some have been saying all year about his management. The big question here is what happens to Derphy (Murphy). This turd recorded the ending out in 8 of the last 18 innings the team has played ( vs LAA). if it were me? I'd send him to Spokane or into orbit for all I care. I was excited to see we acquired Rios, but do we trust Wash to give him a spot in left field every day? I'd play a guy hitting 270 something over 220 every time I fill out the lineup card. Do you guys think Wash will pull the same " veteran leadership" bullshit he did with Michael young last year?
Agree completely - an outfield of Martin/Gentry/Rios with E.Beltre as #4 would be awesome. Love the speed!!! Murph can fill in when needed...I really wish we'd just play gentry most of the time. I know it won't happen, but our speed threat is just so ridiculous

Sad but probably true...Now the question is, how much playing time does gentry lose to Murphy?
Not at all for a bidding war,
but we offer him the most comfortable situation, with the fewest questions asked and low media attention, that surely has to be somewhat attractive

Murphy - no way we make him any kind of offer...too bad, I was always a big Murph fan in years past..but he just doesn't deserve it with his play this year. Hope he can get a fresh start with another team, and do well...
