I don't claim to have the hockey knowledge to break down plays the way a lot of people do on this board. I've watched it since I was a kid, but never having played, I understand that there are some nuances that I just don't quite have a grasp of.

That being said, I am glad you said that, because I was thinking the same thing. I was thinking maybe an interference penalty if he hit him, but we're on the same page. Somehow it's OV's fault that Stepan banked a goal in off of Holtby from behind the goal line because he didn't commit an at-best questionable hit on Stepan at center ice? Yeah, I don't think so.

OV needs to score more than he is currently. But everything the Caps do bad is not OV's fault. Yet the media seems to insist it all is. I guess that goes with being captain.

I think that shift showed Ovi trying his best to be an all around player. Holding AND tripping on the same shift.

The holding was actually good defense I thought and he blocked a shot.

He doesn't have the all around game of guys like Lucic and Marchand who score, play D, take cheap shots after the whistle, and dive as well. Quadruple threats.
