I wonder if he'll be available on the cheap. He's still a useful player, obviously, and if he's getting the money from the buyout, he might be willing to sign under market value.

Rangers will be paying Brad Richards a little over $1 million for the next 12 years.

/Thanks for choosing New York over Calgary, Brad.

Still a decent 2nd line center if you can get him the right matchups.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him end up in Washington.

They're better off just re-signing Grabo - he's a little younger and has a little more speed than Brad

Agreed. That doesn't mean a deal will get done with Grabovski though. He always seems to get underrated by his team. Weird, because IMO he's a pretty good player.

Richards will also be paid $8 million in signing bonuses over the next three seasons.

Not too shabby.

David Clarkson is around to dispel those rumors now. By which I mean he wants to be sure someone else ends up with a worse contract than his.

Pfft...Haven't you heard? The Leafs have no need for Richards. They're a lock to land both Spezza and Kesler!!
I mean they WILL have to give up Clarkson, a 4th rounder AND the rights to negotiate with Jeff Finger in the two deals but apparently Leaf fans are OK with giving up that much. No more than that but they will bite the bullet on this one.
