Certainly not the prettiest win of the year, particularly on the defensive side of the ball, but it counts just like the rest of them. Hopefully the bullpen can tighten things up a bit before the playoffs. Even an improvement of just 1-2 guys would be huge.

Rangers' Tanner Scheppers: Activated from 60-day DL

Scheppers (knee) was activated from the 60-day DL on Tuesday.

February knee surgery put Scheppers on the shelf for an extended period but he's reached the end of the long recovery process. Scheppers struggled last year but he was excellent during his rehab assignment, allowing just one run on six hits in eight innings between Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock. He won't be in the mix to close but Scheppers may quickly become a key part of the bridge to Sam Dyson.

Rangers' Colby Lewis: Targeting Saturday return

Lewis (shoulder) hopes to rejoin the Rangers' rotation Saturday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Lewis was tagged for four earned runs over five innings Monday in his third rehab start, but he was able to throw 66 pitches in the game and did not report any issues afterward, so he should be ready to go this weekend. Lewis' next outing could be pushed to Sunday with fellow starter Cole Hamels currently lined up to start Saturday, but Hamels could get an extra day of rest after being touched up in his last two outings, which would allow Lewis to take the ball Saturday as expected.

He hadn't pitched since September 2nd and before that Aug 29. So he has had some rest. He needs to be used when the game is out of reach right now the way he is pitching. And Kela is not much better.

Not seeing anyone wanting someone else out of the pen taking Dyson's spot as the closer. He has been the right man all along. In the grand scheme of things he looks pretty decent compared to what we have been seeing out of this pen.

I agree. These guys will be jell-o in the playoffs even though some of them have been there before. They need to start attacking these hitters and pitch with some conviction.
