World Series Champ
2011 MVP and 2011 Cy Young Winner
2006 Rookie of the Year
13-7 playoff record, 7-0 in ALDS, 6-3 in ALCS
2011 Triple Crown winner (along with Kershaw)
2017 ALCS MVP
7x All-Star
AL Strikeout Leader in the 5 of the last 9 years
Top 10 in ERA
2 no-hitters
Also, he's the only pitcher in Major League history to win Rookie of the Year, start in a World Series game, throw a no-hitter, and be an All-Star in his first two seasons

Not to mention, he just set his career high in Strikeouts and WHIP as well as his lowest ERA in 7 years and his first complete game shutout in 3 years. The guy is like a fine wine, he's getting better with age.

A lot of those accomplishments have been matched/beaten by Kershaw despite Kershaw being 5 years younger. For starters, Kershaw already has more ERA titles (5) than Verlander has top 5 ERA finishes (4), and Kershaw's got a virtually identical WAR despite 100 less career starts.

Randy without a doubt... As a suffering Mariners fan I can say without question I'd take Randy ... I appreciated everything he did for the Mariners... When we let him go it was just another example of how stupid the Mariners are...

Verlander's playoff success is more than enough of a tiebreaker for me. Kershaw is lights out in the regular season but he's anemic in the playoffs.

Was gonna go Kershaw...then I saw this.

Seriously though, kind of depends on what you want in a pitcher, imo. Johnson was much more intimidating and threw harder than Kershaw.

Kershaw is a better pure pitcher, imo.

I'd have to go with Johnson because Kershaw is starting to break down (been having back issues for at least 2 years now. I just don't see him being as effective for as long as Johnson was.

verlander sucked in the playoffs til after his 30's, he was not a big game pitcher or the Tigers would have won.

I never said he was a big game pitcher. But Verlander has had much more playoff success than Kershaw. Not even close.

Panda was a beast that game. 3 HR in one WS game.

Never was the same after he left San Fran in 2014. .426 in the World Series. Crazy how good he was in the postseason and how mediocre he was in the regular season. Not saying he was bad, but it's not like he was out there winning awards every year.

He has been a very nice bench player for the Giants the last couple years. I have been meaning to write a thank you note to the Sox for footing the bill on him.
