Wow, back in the day I use to live a stone's throw from Warner Center. Don't think I'd recognize the place if those renditions became reality.

I don't know what the CFL rules are but this is a forward pass to a WR who catches the ball behind the LOS and then punts it. The play would also be a legal 4th down play in the NFL. However, in the NFL it would just be a downed/covered punt and since it was untouched by the defense it would automatically result in a change of possession, just like any other punt.

If this is in lieu of a standard kickoff restart/onside kick the issue would be the need to recover the ball 10 yards down field - which doesn't happen in this example. This is no different than a kickoff where the kicker kicks the ball 1 yard and dives on it, which would obviously be a penalty.

In the NFL, I’m not going to say I’m certain because I’ve never seen it tried, but I’m pretty sure you cannot catch a forward pass and then punt the ball even if the forward pass is behind the LOS. Heck I’m close to certain :noidea:

Regardless the odd part was that they get the ball back in the CFL if they do this? That’s nuts.

The question is why would the Vikings trade him? Is this a Cook trade?

Dunno. Addison still has 2 years left (and a 5th year option). I get they already are paying Jefferson big money, so do you need too invest in 2 good wideouts (especially with how much they invested in the OL)? That said, why now?

Also they spent a 23rd on him. Buffalo has the 30th - in what many are saying is a bit weaker of a draft class. So what is Buffalo gonna give them the 30th and a 2026 1st or something? Seems like nothing but a rumor and that of course Minnesota will entertain the trade, for something as ridiculous as I pitched above.

If Addison was entering his final year and you didn't want to pick up the 5th year option, I could see it. But not with two years left. And with McCarthy effectively being a rookie QB, you want as much help to develop him as possible.

Seems like one of those 'Madden trades'. The video game somehow let's you have Addison for a 2nd and you're like, "YAH I RULE!" as you pop your 3rd pimple for the day and yell to Mom "When's dinner!?"
