best way to keep from having division winners from having worse records than the wildcard teams is to eliminate divisions not adding them.
We went from 3 to 4 divisions & then added another playoff spot. It was much harder to do when we were at 3 divisions.
Make each Conference have only 2 divisions One have West/East divisions & the other North/South division. or something like that. But even then. The possibility is always there. But less divisions would make it most likely the top 7 teams make the playoffs. We are talking who host a playoff game but imagine having a better record than some team & miss the playoffs while the other team makes it.

None of this matters because they will never eliminate divisions, but just saying.

There are only going to be more playoff spots added, not removed. All for the almighty dollar (as if the NFL doesn't make enough money already lol).

More teams won’t purposefully kick it through the end zone for the touchback would be their thought.

If they want fewer touchbacks, why don't they move the kickoff position back to the 30, like it used to be - when they wanted fewer touchbacks.

So the changes made for player safety are now being changed yet again to encourage more returns and potential injury.

Just go back to the regular kick off and onside rules. This is getting ridiculous. Only a 5 yard difference between a touchback and kicking out of bounds?

I imagine in a few years you'll see kickoffs littered with flags because they'll make it so convoluted the refs wont know what the fuck to make of it, when rarely a flag is thrown on kickoffs. Someone moved too early, illegal block, something about crossing a line too early, they'll put something stupid in there like "If you let the ball bounce but it goes past a certain distance it doesn't count and must be fielded", etc. etc. NFL is great at overcomplicating rules and it leads to sloppy officiating. They're turning something as simple as the kickoff into a giant fuckin' mess.

"It's for player safety!" Right... like not allowing weed but pumping them full of brain altering pills/fluids... yah, player safety... lol.

It'll be like punt returns. Whenever there's a punt return I'm expecting yellow EVERY fuckin' time. And usually I'm right. When there isn't a flag on a punt return I'm like, "Oh wow!" Eh should be fun in a few years. We'll have routine flags on kickoffs and refs standing around confused to start off a majority of games.

I 100% get it. The fact he's mocking people who wipe their noses on their arm or shirt which when brushed up against another person can cause them to contract a cold, flu, COVID, or AIDS is absolutely disgusting! And then he POINTS!? Like he's going to shoot his diseases at someone in a gun!? UNBELIEVABLY disgusting!

Furthermore, imagine people that are sick who legitimately have to wipe their nose!? He's now making fun of sick people! Absolutely reprehensible behavior and IMO he should be fined and possibly jailed for making fun of sick people and diseases for entertainment!

I think the new kicking rule was more about 245 lbs guys running 50 yards and the collisions.
