I am going out on a limb like Phoenix Eagle (or whatever his name was) did with Wentz. I realize I am putting myself out there and subject to a massive I Told You So if I am wrong. But man this is such an easy thing to see right now.

Caleb COULD be great some day.

Jayden ALREADY is great.

With that simple summary it's clear that Daniels should have been the first pick.
I'd hold off on Jayden and the already great status for now. I always thought he was going to be a stud and the best QB to come out of this past draft but it's only year 1. Are you going to cut him a break if he has a same type year Stroud had? Stroud had a descent year but wasn't anything like his rookie year. Again, let's give Jayden 3yrs like we do with most QBs.

what he said...lol

the back story makes this that much more golden. Daniels has been as good as any QB in football this season. No question he's off to a great start for a HOF career, but one season defines no player.

the agenda is what's getting the "push back"
tèam board----------------------->
You were the only poster here to claim I had an agenda. I mean I get it, no doubt I have a different perspective. But I'd be saying this if I was a Seahawks fan beause the evidence is just so clear. If they redrafted today and Daniels is the concensus #1 pick then by definition the Bears made the wrong pick.

As I said I set my self up by going out on a limb. And clearly Daniels set the bar so high a regression is probaby inevitiable. But even with Stroud's regression and Bryce Young's improvement the truth is CJ Streoud was still a better QB than Bryce Young was in 2023 and I think that point is important here.

Again did we give the Young/Stroud thing 3 years? Why is this different?

Daniels has better stats then RG3 but the stats are close enough to be similar. Both throw over 3000 yards, both threw for 20 or more TDs, 68 to 70 % completion , both ran for over 800 yards. Both won the ROY. Both were on the lean side and there was concern that they won't hold up.
If you saw them both play every play you would understand the difference. The Washington Post had a pic with 5 open receivers circled with the caption "RGIII took a sack on this play. I have no idea why".

Griffin had talent but never learned how to play the position. This is simply not the case with Jayden Daniels which is why they are not similar.

Trent Baalke FINALLY out in JAX.

How that dude kept his job as long as he did defies logic. It would also defy logic if he ever got another GM gig.

Yeah that was way overdue. It's amazing how some owners are smart at this and so many are just so bad at it.

That 5th year of college did wonders for Jayden and transferring to LSU was a smart decision because they developed him from a running QB to a more complete QB. Might of been a good idea for RG3 to go one more year in college because he was not as developed coming into the NFL as Daniels. I think talent wise they were very similar, Jayden had just developed more with that extra year of good coaching and of course RG3 injury derailed his career. Hopefully Daniels has better luck with health, he's fun to watch and be interesting to see how he does year two in the NFL. Hopefully no team poaches his OC this off season because that could impact how things go with Daniels and the team. I'm rooting for Daniels while also being envious that Washington was able to hit with a rookie QB, that gives the team a leg up to compete and build a Super Bowl roster.

I give all QBs 3yrs so yes Young/Stroud get 1 more year. Jayden gets 2 more years.
This isn't a knock on Stroud/Daniels as they have the "it" factor it's a barometer of 3yrs of football to see if they are worth their 5th year extension, how's the team looked and have they progressed.

Like I said, I always thought Stroud was the better prospect over Young and I liked Jayden as the best QB coming out of last years QB class.

As far as the Stroud/Young thing went, Stroud fit the system of Reich at the time so its weird they didnt draft him. As a whole, though, both QBs are starting to look legit. I think its something to watch moving forward.

As far as Caleb Williams is concerned, Ben Johnson chose the Bears for a reason. Nobody has given up on him as a prospect. I personally dont think Daniels will have a Stroud-like mini regression, though, because Daniels is older that Stroud. Washington might regress next year because imo their roster is kinda mid.
