Wow, seems high for him, no?

He plays a “Magic position” that the NFL really values. He broke through with 9.5 sacks last year. If you’re redoing his deal now this is what the going rate is for a pass rush guy. It may be a slight overpay of 2-3 million of yearly value but not uncommon at a position you overpay for.

That’s great news. I both love and hate this time a year. Gonna spend 5 weeks on pins and needles praying and hoping that guys can avoid injury.
Nothing worse than a guy going out for the year in training camp. We know it's going to happen, but we just don't know who.

What a contract for a CB that regularly bites on fakes and gets burned as a result.

Missed this yesterday. This is big news for the Niners. They can actually evaluate a QB competition now between Purdy and Lance.

Damn! That’s a lot of money. He’s improved from his lackluster rookie year. But this puts him as one of the best tackles in the game. Not sure he’s there but congrats all the same.

He looked pretty shaky his first year but was good in year 2 and elite last year. Plus he was only 23 yo last season. Yes, a lot of money, but a great move by the Giants IMO

From the sounds of it, I dont think they even want to evaluate a competition between the 2. They are just going to hand it to Purdy and be done with it.

With him being cleared, I expect Lance to be traded before final rosters are set.

It will be interesting to see what they can get for him. I would expect a straight 2nd rounder in this upcoming draft and 1st-4th conditional in 2025 based on playing time in the next 2 seasons.

Agreed, Lance will be traded soon IMO. I think he’s capable of being a solid QB, things just didn’t work out in SF for him. Purdy deserves the starting job after the strong season he had last year.

Niners better be careful. The way Shanahan fails to protect QBs (seemingly every year at least one QB goes down) they may need 2-3 QBs to get themselves through a season. Protection schemes seem to be little more than an afterthought to Shanahan’s system.

Having so little to assess this kid from, they might have to settle for a 3rd and a conditional. I can't see any team in the league really coveting this kid all that much. Most teams are set at QB, have their own kid they are developing or have just invested in a high pick.

Teams like the Raiders could have interest. I doubt Jimmy is their long term answer. Bucs too.

This doesn’t sit well with me but at the same time, the contract language allows it to happen. Hate this for Hines:
