With DAL/Jer considering a reunion with Zeke - that spot may be out the door.

Not buying that. Zeke was a shell of himself that final season in Dallas. (876) i think he's done.

That may very well be true but if they think he offers more than the rooks this yr - why not ?

Think you pointed out that whomever went to DAL was about the last place anyone of them would potentially make a difference in the short-term. With DAL/Jer considering a reunion with Zeke - that spot may be out the door. Word is the 2025 class is where the scouts seem to see the value at RB - - so they wait until next yr ?
It certainly does seem plausible with all the vet movement this yr, that a number of teams just may be in that wait mode. .... but who really knows.
well it's somewhat of a catch 22 situation. At this very moment - I think Dallas is easily the prime destination for a rookie RB to have the easiest path to touches. However, the line ain't what it was, and it's missing pieces, and this offense will only go as far as Dak and Lamb will take them, so it's ain't like a rookie RB is going to come in and grab 20 touches, and even if he does, it's debatable as to how efficient the production from those touches would be.
But as far as landing spots..I would still easily put Dallas as the #1 spot that would 'create' value out of a rookie RB. NO other team has as big of a gaping hole at the top of the depth chart. Only one even close is TB. Plenty of others need role players, change of paces, 3rd down guys..whatever, but Dallas has a complete and utter void at RB..so there's no doubt that's where I'd want my favorite rookie RB to land, if I had one.
Not buying that. Zeke was a shell of himself that final season in Dallas. (876) i think he's done.
no doubt's he's a shell of what he was. But I totally buy them possibly signing him. He's still A+ in pass pro, and doesn't turn the ball over, and is still an asset as a safety valve out of the backfield, that's still worth something. Long as he's not the guy you plan on handling 20 touches, and you use him as your short yardage banger, and in pass pro situations, and is cheap, I could totally see it happening.

Now, I wouldn't expect it until after the draft, so IF they do score the rookie they the like, maybe it never happens, but I'd bet the over rather than the under on him ending up in BigD come week 1

outside of a few, especially the stretch from 09-14, that's a fairly decent track record. Almost all of them had at least a 2-3 year stretch of good-great, or better, production

2009-2014 did some serious damage to the position

'11, '13, '14 being the only seasons there wasn't at least 1 taken in the first round all the way until Breece Hall is pretty wild too. And I'd imagine Breece would go in the mid-end of 1st rd if they got to redo that draft

Well, i found an error.
Out of curiosity, wanted to see who the 2nd and/or 3rd RB chosen in those "bust" years....

Started with 2011 and Ryan Williams was not the 1st but the 2nd RB drafted. Mark Ingram was 1st (28th overall).

LeVeon Bell was 11 picks after Bernard.
A fave of @TREFF Montee Ball was 10 picks after Bell.

Jeremy Hill was the next pick after Sankey.
Carlos Hyde was 2 picks later.

Looking at the RB in the 2010 draft. P.U. Bad year for RB.

When you finally give up on a guy in dynasty, only to trade him away on the cheap right before he blows up...

"A college football coach told The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman that Michael Penix has the “elite arm talent” in the 2024 quarterback class.
...dude has a cannon, can make every throw..yada yada..cliche, after cliche, after cliche.. The people around him didn’t even faze him.” The coach added that Penix’s ability to manipulate defenses is “high-level stuff.”

So, Mr. Anonymous college football coach, care to explain how that's the case when he faced exactly ONE top 30 defense the entire year and looked like absolute crap in doing so?? He was certainly phased by the people around him (pass rushers), and he manipulated virtually NO ONE. Barely above %50 completions, 2 to 1 INT to TD's, and exactly one completion longer than 16 yards.

I would be VERY cautious about this kid. There's a big reason why he isn't in the discussion with the other top 3-4 guys, and it ain't just his medicals. he has built a very impressive stat sheet against some of the very worst Div. 1 defenses out there, and has wilted the very few times he played against anyone that provided a little defensive pushback.

The quality of opponents is a charge made against anyone outside the SEC it seems like. Doesn't Texas with Murphy and Sweat count as a good defense? Caleb Williams playing in the same conference is going #1 with similar opponents, so the quality of the opponents isn't why Penix isn't top rated up with the top 3. Penix is downgraded because he's doesn't make things happen with his legs and then the injuries which were pretty serious while the top three can not only throw the ball but can run it and been healthy in college.

Texas D - yards allowed per game 34th. Given there being 100+ DIV 1 teams, that's well within the upper half and above average, but, a far cry from a 'good/great' D though.

anyone that claims the it's only the SEC that plays D, is smoking crack though. Big 10 had #1, #2, and #3 defenses, and #7 and #11. SEC had only Clemson, Georgia and Alabama int eh top 20.

Shockingly, UCLA was top 10..too bad Penix didn't play them

Big 12 and PAC 12 have bene notorious for ZERO defense for over a decade now. Yes it's somewhat of a cliche..but it's also dead on balls accurate. Doesn't guarantee failure for QB's or RB's or whatever form those conferences, but it does but their numbers into perspective, especially when there is an available measuring stick of a game or two or more against a real defense

Caleb going #1 is also one I'd be more than happy to warn someone off of, his entire last year is a red flag. And he did play UCLA, and UTAH, and ND..all top 15 pr better Ds..and he sucked vs all of them..at least 'sucked' in terms of a guy about to go #1 in the NFL draft. And we haven't even touched the fingernails and momma's shoulder yet.

But who's gonna tell Da Bears any different?
