Purdy did just fine on swing passes, crossing routes, checkdowns and the like. when it came to anything above and beyond that, that's not where he thrives. The kid is good, but he has obvious limitations
Many-a-good QB has faltered in the limelight of the Super Bowl. Not gonna hold that against Purdy. Well that wasn't a critique of just his play at the SB.. thats where he's been since day 1. And yes he can.Many-a-good QB has faltered in the limelight of the Super Bowl. Not gonna hold that against Purdy. The kid can play.

Had to laugh at the CMAC being boring reference. Nice.based on the eye test, I'm assuming?
sorry to be a nerd, but I like to see some stats that support a statement like that, especially after we all just watched Purdy play his 1st full season in the NFL where he did the following:
- #1 in passer rating
- #1 in yards/att
- #1 in passes over 30yds
- #1 in passes over 40yds
- #2 in air yards/completion
- #4 in passes over 50yds
- #8 in avg depth of target
- #9 in air yards
The data supports Purdy being well above average in downfield passing - actually was one of the best last year. Are there any comparable data points that show he's just a checkdown/slant thrower?
Of course he has some of the best YAC guys in the league (#1 in YAC/completion, #4 in overall YAC yards behind Mahomes, Tua, Goff), but he was still seeing a lot of success downfield as well. He'd probably be throwing it even deeper if he didn't have to force feed some boring RB all those touches every week and could just air it out like we all want to see.

Well, anything that isn't a timing route over the middle 5-10 yards up the feild, or a deep bomb to a guy who beat coverage, usually on a play action due to the boring RB being a threat, it doesn't seem to work out well for him.
He's great at getting through progressions, and getting through them quickly, accurate on most anything, other than those intermediate throws.
And that's all a team with CMAC, Deebo, Ayuik, and Kittle on it needs from a QB, get it out, get it out accurately and on time, let those guys eat.
It'll be interesting to see what happens when these skill guys need to be re-signed, when Trent Williams gets paid again, and when Purdy gets paid who remains and what he can do with what's left. But until then, I think it'll always be a debate as to whether Purdy is actually any good, or if he is merely a good facilitator with the best set of offensive weapons in the league
stat check? a break from real work? yes please!!All valid reservations. Hard to find any top shelf QBs that don't have at least 1 star playmaker to throw the ball at, Purdy does benefit from having 4, but I do think those guys benefit greatly as well.
Prior to Purdy, we didn't really see both Deebo and Aiyuk have good years in the same season, and I believe this was the best Kittle has ever played when both of the WRs were healthy for most of the season (off the top of head, feel free to stat check me on that). I'd argue this was Kittle's best season since they drafted Aiyuk.

Looks like we've got another stalker. Weird he's on a Purdy tweet fest ONE day after we start talking about him....
Cutting out the middle man?Justin Fields going to the Steelers? Apparently, Tomlin is talking to people about how much he loves the guy.
The last Bears QB draft pick that failed went to Buffalo before Pittsburgh. If I knew what you meant, I'd have a better response.
I am.But wait, you're a Lions fan, right?
Aw, whatever....when's Baseball start?
Always the quietest time of year for dynasty. That stretch between the Super Bowl and the start of the new league year is always boring. Just in case anybody is wondering about the 5th year options coming up, here is the list of the 1st rounders and how much the 5th year option would cost the teams to exercise it. Something tells me that Trey Lance might have the 5th year option exercised on him. The biggest steal might be Etienne at just under $6,000,000. Only 6 Pro bowlers in this class's first round and all within the first 13 picks of the draft.

I think if you put Pitts in Detriot and Laporta in Atlanta for the '23 season, they'd be very similar to what we actually got out of the Lions TE and the Falcons TE. Pitts is probably worth it, IF they'd ever utilize him for what he is.Feels gross but I actually don't hate Pitts at $10mil when you look at TE contracts. Kmet only other TE under 27yo that makes more than $3.5 and he just signed a big deal last off season
