McVay knows what he is doing. Look for him to poach other members of our offensive staff. Allen and SM need to get their thumbs out of their butts and do something. Brantley might be gone to the Chargers as well.

Not saying McVay is going to work out but if he is as smart as the league and several NFL experts make him out to be, I find it interesting that he hired Wade Phillips within hours of being hired as HC. Yet, our fearless HC and intelligent front office continue to sit on their hands and do nothing.

We literally should be offering Brantley a job at this moment before he goes to the Chargers.

If Lynn gets Chargers job, Bradley follows him and we grab Pettine. If Lynn doesn't get it, I think Gus is our new DC. We'll see.

Bottom line is that if Gruden or SM screw this up, they should both be canned. Gruden screwed up by hring Barry over Phillips to being with. SM screwed up by spending nothing on the defense (we are 31 out of 32 in defensive spending). These guys have got to figure this out quickly before it gets worse.

Looks like Lynn has the job:

This is becoming a nightmare scenerio for us. Would they please just make a decision? They should have hired someone last week? What good is sitting around doing? Seriously!!!

Scot CANNOT swing and miss again in free agency and Jay can't give us Munusky with all the top level elite D coordinators that were and still are out there.

SHIT! Well, looks like Pettine, and I'm fine with that. Not in my top 5, but on paper a clear upgrade over Barry, and most of all a hardass, which I think this D, and especially guys like Baker, RJF, Breeland, and Duke need.

Exactly. My fear is that Gruden makes another mistake and SM tries to get tier 4 players once again to fix the defense. He will then draft another WR with the 1st round pick.

And Gruden and SM better figure out who is our OC before McVay poaches Callahan or Wes Phillips. McVay is not dummy and I actually wish he was our HC and not Gruden. McVay is swinging for the fences while Gruden had Haslett and Barry and his DC!

This is why I air my concerns about this organization out. We are historically not proactive, even with the hiring of SM taking proactive steps seem to be not in the offing.

I won't panic until I see Munusky giving a press conference. Still got Cavanaugh to be the OC if all else fails. That's why I want Jay to hire a strong coach on the other side of the ball so he can concentrate on the offense. Jay will be the real OC. He'll call the plays and create the opening drive scripts. He will need a true asst HC on D.

It is a bad scenario for the NFC West. It is not a "nightmare scenario" for the redskins. Sorry.

McVay, on his first day as a head coach, made a great hire. Good for him. If he takes Phillips with him, that's ALSO to be expected. Good for HIM.

McVay's smart moves have nothing to do with the redskins now. He isn't going to take phillips, callahan, AND Cavanaugh. The redskins - on offense - will be fine.

They ought to get a move on finding a defensive coordinator though.

hope I'm not out of line, but didn't Scott pretty much have Djax and Norman fall out of the sky for him?
As bad as Barry's DC history was, Scotty didn't help by drafting a WR, and scooping up dlinemen that were washed up and better suited for 4-3. Also we put our faith in Bruton, who clearly did ok with the talent around him in DENVER...not here. Not hating on Scott and our recent success, but man...really what groundbreaking things has he done for the defense???

Honest answer?.......Um uh..er...I dunno. However in all fairness the mess that he was hired into required a hell of a lot of work. Maybe the long term plan is playing out exactly as he'd planned it.....going from barely under the cap to tons of cash to play with......lots of flexibility in terms of getting return for certain player(s) as has been the topic of a lot of speculation recently......9 draft picks this year and some good fortune with respects to Kyle likely to and Sean leaving the team for HC'ing jobs. (This last bit is a bonus for him)

Damm man (duke1861) either you have been reading my post or we think alike. Anyway excellent point. McVay wasted no time hiring Wade. He may be young but he gets it loud and clear. Our FO is moving like molasses, not decisive just really a timid like behavior. Now you watch how good the Rams Def will be in a couple of yrs and it will be interesting to see were our Def will be several yrs from now.

Again I concur. McVay should been our coach.

DJax was here a year before Scott so he fell out of the sky to Bruce and Jay.
