That's a lot of money for a guy that plays a position that isn't dangerous.....

Pretty smart move on their part. Gurley is elite and transforms that offense. He's one of maybe 3-4 RBs that deserve that kind of money right now.

For all those complaining about Donald's contract, it takes 2 sides to agree.

Donald is the one delaying the signing because he wasnt ridiculous money ( top QB money per report ).

Rams are willing to make him the highest paid defensive player, but he wants more

He's the best back in the game imo. But.... This seems like something they'll regret.

I also think they are waiting for Mack to sign, so they can go over that. Problem is I think Mack is waiting for AD to sign.

I am not sure Mack is the guy who sets the market. If anything, you may have to go back to Suh's Miami deal and adjust for cap inflation. That's in the neighborhood of 23.5 Million + extra if Donald beats that. So when another poster says "top QB money," he's not totally wrong.

Probably the right move.

The loser here is probably Marcus Peters.

At 5 years with $45 mil guaranteed the deal in reality averages out to $9 mil per year. Yes, I know the total deal is $60 mil but I am pretty sure the last year probably had a very high base salary. I think the key seller for Gurley was the $45 mil guaranteed.

Deserves it. He's arguably the most complete weapon at the position and probably was the reason by far that the Rams offense ripped it up last season. Of course....another Ram that gets signed that isn't named Donald gets somewhat more problematic.

Donald is definitely the more important player, imo.

Gurley has had 28 games where he has been a badass and 16 where he looked completely lost.
Donald has had about 60 games where he has been at badass level.

Gurley seems more dependent on other factors like coaching.

Rams going for that ring while Goff is on a rookie deal. Makes some sense, but that is a lot of money to pay a running back.

Debatable. The offense under Fisher rendered Gurley ineffective, which in turn completely stiffled the entire offense. They've lacked general talent on that side for the most part. Losing Donald would be a big blow, but I don't think their entire defense turns to garbage if he wasn't there, as they still had some decent pieces.

Gurley was a bigger difference-maker last year than Donald, IMO.
