Did know where to post this, so started this thread since it pertains to the draft.

With Sidney Jones injury, it is speculated that he could drop 2 rounds. He was considered the drafts top DB and will most likely miss his entire rookie season.

With the prospect of losing Johnson next offseason, do you think it would be a good idea for the Rams to take Jones with their 3rd rounder if he is still available?

I think they need to seriously consider it if that does happen.

i think the problem with that idea is that we need starters right now. I dont think we can be like the pats/cowboys and sit on a guy for a year knowing he wont contribute right away. Granted i understand we aren't playoff ready either. I would be curious to see how bad the injury is and if this is a first time occurrence or if he suffered injuries in other years.

ALR - I'm for it only if we receive another 3rd rounder in a trade (trade down or player). Historically, only teams with extra picks take these type of risks (injury or off-field).

Injury

San Francisco took the injured RB Marcus Lattimore from South Carolina in the fourth round. I remember they had a boatload of picks that year. Ultimately, Marcus never played a down in a regular season game.

More recently, Dallas took LB Jaylon Smith from Notre Dame in the second round. His recovery has been slower than expected.

Off-Field

Rams took Janoris Jenkins with the second of our round two picks from Northern Alabama. He worked out well.
Cowboys took Randy Gregory in the fourth round I believe. What a maroon!

The Browns are the team with multiple picks in a few rounds this year. My guess is they will be the one to grab CB Sydney Jones.

I'm not sure how bad the injury is but if the drs think he will be fine in 2018 I would in the 3rd for sure. Hell probably half of our 3rd rd picks don't pan out anyway. And with Johnson leaving next year you wouldn't have to draft a CB in the first then. Will the Rams do it? No way.

Pick #37 - My preference right now is a CB whether we trade Trumaine Johnson or not!

This thread belongs with the "First Pick, Mock Draft" thread, folks. Go there and I'll take care of this thread later.
