If we are playing for this year, and we are, you get OBJ at that price.

Hell, he could be 'in' for his 5th year option contract money for the same reason the Rams are willing to part with such an asking price.

BTW - The deal probably gets done with a little less than what's listed in that report. That's just the starting point for the Giants....

Maybe we end up giving our 1st, (2) 6ths, and Tavon?

Donald deal will get done and once it is, we will still have about 80 mil in cap room for next season. Snead and Co. have put us in DAMN good shape to not only keep our main young players, but maybye even add a couple more.

80M goes fast when the guys you have to sign take up huge chunks.

OBJ wants 20M, Peters will command 15M+ seeing as Johnson just got that. Suh will get at least 15M. Now, you are down to 30M with Gurley still to go, not to mention filling out the rest of the roster.

It's unrealistic to get that many high priced guys on one team unless they are all willing to take less than market value ( which it doesn't sound like any of them are willing to do, including Donald ).

I wouldn't put Suh in there... IF he comes back in 2019, it would be for less money... Also, the 30-40 mil left over could still fill quite a few holes.

Suh is going to play for less money if he plays well ( which is the only way the Rams would want him back ). He signed a one year prove it deal and still got 14M.

And that 30M Doesn't include extending Gurley, so you can subtract at least 10M if not more.

Which is why I capitalized IF... As for Gurley, he will be extended when we HAVE to, just like Donald... why would you give a guy an extra 10 mil when you don't really have to? Which seems to be our exact salary cap strategy...

From what I am seeing and hearing, the Rams are probably going to wait until after the draft because there are a number of WRs (Pettis from Washington is one of them) they have their eye on. If they get their people, expect the Rams to come back with a lesser offer (if any), than all those draft picks now presently being bantered about.

Moreover, if Beckham starts raising a stink in NY (which he is slowly doing), the owner has already stated he is fed-up with Beckham right now and I am sure he'll step-in and instruct his FO to get something done to move this guy and it'll probably include taking less on the picks front.

Beckham lives in LA in the off-season and he wants to do the Hollowood thing after retirement. Dont't forget, McVay and Phillips have been around some serious egos over their short and long careers respectively and they know how to get the best out of them without progressing a locker room cancer unlike the drama queen who had no frikin' clue about anything.

In fact, if McVay and Phillips can get chronic problem children like Talib, Peters, AND Suh on board, they have a serious organizational dynamic and culture going on that gets these players to buy in. Otherwise, all of the aforementioned probably would not have come here.

I attribute this success to McVay himself. LIke I have stated before, he hung around his father and grandfather alot and so he has had some serious mentoring on how to build and sustain winners. Even former players like ED, Ferragamo, and Holt have noticed that McVay is the real deal and many have stated that it will be when not if he has a superbowl victory or several!!!

I'm for getting Beckham for a 1 and a 6 this year and a 3 and a 5 next year! If we acquire Beckham and somebody reminds all four of our new acquisitions that the Hall Of Fame is in their grasp if they behave on and off the field and team up for Super Bowl runs, I think they will understand it is not about them individually.

That could be a really tough sell as you're giving your new WR a record salary.

Even with all the cap space, not everyone can be retained. Suh may be just a one year deal. Someone may have to go when it comes time to re-sign Gurley and or Goff. Maybe Gurley doesn't stay. All depends on who the Rams draft to bring along behind some of these potential big money guys. At some point, dollars force tough decisions.

1/6 and 3/5 for Beckham still seems like a high price to me, but not out of reason. I saw another that was #23, a 3rd next year and Cupp, which would make no sense. That would cannibalize the advantage of adding Beckham, and a cost-controlled loss to boot.

I wouldn't trade for Beckham no need for the guy. If the Rams really wanted to go after another receiver I would go after Gronk.

I think this whole Beckham thing is him crying and rightfully so the Giants suck.. so they pay his ass

The Rams can keep a lot of these defensive players and Donald going forward if we stay young at WR. Need a compliment RB to Gurley tho

I agree AHFox. Beckham doesn't block like Gronk does and we could trade Tavon Austin and a 6th rounder for Gronk.

Gronk was considering retirement from the best situation in the league. He's not going to play long, and probably not for anyone but the Patriots.

If Gronk comes to LA, he will be more focused on doing movies in Hollywood than playing football IMO.

No thanks
