Might as well just make him a DH right now.

So doesn't he only have to stay down 3 weeks before they get another year of service? If so, so what? It's very worth it.

Who cares? Do you really think Larry Baer had anything to do with the titles? Or the sucking after?

We did the same thing with Acuna last year. It's not worth it. They don't bring them up as early as they say, and when they do that, they're basically telling the fanbase this dude is gone when his rookie contract is up if not sooner because they're penny pinching cheapos that aren't gonna pony up for a deal. If the prospect works out, a non cheap team would have them extended before the rookie deal works out.

It's a shit rule too that isn't good for the player or the fanbase. I hope it gets addressed when the current CBA runs out.

Said that about us last year too when Acuna started the season in AAA. Might have been able to get the NLDS at home had he started the season with us.

And I'll raise my hand.

We're owned by a media conglomerate in Colorado that sees us as an investment property and they won't pony up for big time free agents.

Our GM is a high talking fruit that is unwilling to make a deal unless we're the clear cut winners of the trade. We have a lot of highly ranked prospects. Most of them are pitchers. If we couldn't have signed Harper, would have been nice to have used a few of them to upgrade our outfield or catching situation, but no.

We were told we'd have money to go after any player we wanted this offseason. As it stands now, our payroll is 21 million dollars less than last season. Yes, there was over 30 million in dead money on the payroll last season that's off the books, but we're just using that coming off the books to increase profit margins instead of improving the team. I get it, we have the worst tv contract in sports(as good as Ted Turner was as an owner, he really fucked us on his way out with that one), but we were told the whole purpose of the new ballpark was to increase revenue to have more freedom in spending. Their plan worked, the profits are higher than they've ever been. The Battery outside the park, which is owned by the team is packed every day, baseball season or not, and those luxury apartments owned by the team are all filled up with renters as well, but we've yet to see an increase in spending from it.

We're gonna be an east coast version of the A's before long. Go 15 years without having to rebuild, and now we've had to do it twice in a 10 year span, and when we finally saw some fruits of the last rebuild, we sat there and watched 3 teams in our division get significantly better, while we essentially stayed pat. Frustrating as hell.

Yes our run in the 90's got significant results from a lot of home grown talent, but we're not winning in 95 if we don't have the hired guns of Greg Maddux and Fred McGriff.

YES, THIS
Vlady, Eloy, Tatis, and so many others (most actually) will be up by early May, as the teams save that extra year of service and control.

When the next CBA is revised in 2 yrs (unless a lockout comes first), they will need to address this, as well as the 6 years of control, along with all the other contractual quagmire.
These rules will be revised, as it is a stupid and silly policy.

In the meantime, Vlady, Eloy, Tatis and all the others will do what Acuna, Bryant and majority of other top rookies did the past decade, wait those 3 to 4 weeks into the season, to save that extra year of contractual control.

Well if Canada would get their shit together and make their Queen money as good as the US dollar there wouldn’t be an issue.

I hope the next cba destroys this so they miss a full year of time for him (he was ready like mid season of last year)
