Not going to say Gruden is the answer in Oakland but there's a reason he got 10 yrs. He inherited one of the oldest if not oldest rosters in NFL at I believe 27 yrs old and a Qb I'm not so sure he's so excited about as he lets on. Getting rid of Mack pretty much makes a big statement imo that he's not out to win this year but build through draft and FA for future.

Gruden has also signed a lot of old players this off-season just hard to tell what direction he is going. Raiders are also in cap trouble. He will have his work cut out.

They really had to stop gap positions this year much like they did the few years before they drafted Derek Carr.

The Raiders in 2017 were close to middle of the pack when it came to age of roster. So no he did not inherit one of the oldest rosters. He made it into the oldest roster in football with signing so many players over the age of 30. Heck he then goes and trades his best young piece on the roster.

What’s crazy about that is Reggie Mackenzie spent his first few years there rescuing the Raiders from salary cap hell. It somewhat paid off with the 12-4 season in 2016, despite a defense that really wasn’t that good. It was a start. They didn’t retain Musgrave and last year’s decline just about anyone could see coming. Now Gruden seems to be wanting to redesign the team in his image. While one can argue McKenzie didn’t raise a force to reckon with, you cannot question he fixed a lot that was broken with that team. It’s classic Raiders to hit reset on that process and with a guy whose effectiveness at this kind of thing is questionable at best.

I was really surprised at how many stop gap old vets the Raiders brought in this year. It was like Gruden signed a bunch of players he remembered when doing a poor job analyzing on MNF.

Cook had almost 200 yards last week as a TE

I don;t like this, as both play right into what I feel is the weakest link on the team right now ..

I just hope Denver doesn’t get cocky and think this will be an easy win. The Broncos have a long history of overlooking opppnents and losing to people they have to no business losing too. Hopefully this isn’t the case with a sub par Raiders team.

I would say this is a whole different team that the Broncos are dealing with compared to the Steelers. Big Ben is by far much better than Carr especially at this point where Carr is afraid to throw the football. I would also add Bryant won't have a WR like Antonio Brown taking coverage away from him leaving him in single coverage. And while Beastmode is a good RB he is nowhere near the level of threat that Bell was back then.

That doesn't mean that Bryant can't have a good game but there is also a lot of reasons he was cut in the first place. I know one of the biggest issues is that he could not understand the complicated system that Gruden wants to run. He was consistently running wrong routes. So I'm not sure how much they would even trust him to see the field at this point.

Cook is definitely the biggest threat at this point. The Broncos are going to have to have a better gameplan to stop Cook than they did Dissly. I will say going back and watching the Broncos made changes for the 2nd half of the game and Dissly did nothing. And really in the 1st half his 2 big catches came against Chubb and Von Miller. Those are not the guys you want chasing a TE around the field. Again they made adjustments and those two were mostly then just called to cover the flats if they did drop back in coverage.

Sure, why not run a 2 yard slant to the TE on 3rd and 9. Good to see the Offense showed up today, or maybe the Raiders have an all pro defense, without Mack.

Bummer about the holding call on what would have been a forced fumble and Broncos recovery.

Offense is a no-show. Defense has been ok but they did let the Raiders have their way with them on that opening drive. So far not a very encouraging performance by the good guys.
