Jon Gruden's gonna have a long year. I expect the Broncos, but I'm not good @ guessing scores. Hopefully Bradley Roby gets a pick-6.:hope:

The problem with Carr seems to be not the actual pressure (although that does cause problems too), but that he often senses "phantom pressure". He can panic just by thinking he's being pressured even in times where most QB's wouldn't sense a problem.

BINGO!

Carr hasn't been the same since his two injuries the last two years. I feel he is playing a little scared after the broken leg, back issue and dislocated finger.

I think those injuries really got into his head and has greatly impacted the way he plays now.

“We kind of freestyled coming out. We didn’t know how Gruden was going to attack us on defense. Our coaches did a great job adjusting and we were able to hold them to zero points in the second half and our offense got going and, big win for us,” Talib said on NFL Total Access.

“I think it was just that freestyle. We really didn’t know what to expect, speaking for the defense. We didn’t know how they would attack us. So we had to see how they would attack us and adjust and Coach Wade [Phillips] did a great job,” Talib said. “They repeated a lot of plays in the second half and we were ready for them.

Talib summed up exactly what I saw in the game. Nobody quite knew what to expect from a Gruden offense coming out of the gates. Once it was seen what he was trying to do the adjustments were made and boom the offense couldn't do jack squat.

The Raiders signed Clinton McDonald today who we signed in the off-season and released prior to roster cutdown.

This could very well be Carr's toughest game of the year -

- Musgrave knows him better than most opposing coaches
- Broncos pass rush + crowd noise
- Pressing to get the ship back on track, which, all things considered with Mack being dealt and the expectations from Gruden's hiring, Carr will definitely have a lot going on in his head

The Broncos came out of the first game unscathed, with PacMan having another game under his belt and being closer to game shape ..... If Case can protect the ball better - which, as last season proved, is likely -I see the Broncos digging the Raiders in even deeper ..

Nothing like starting 0-2 with a controversial trade hanging over your head ... Gruden's act might get old, fast

Broncos had every player a full participant in practice once again. Good to see them healthy.

I hope the Broncos make this a statement game - and not over look a wounded and weakened opponent.

The following week we have a dreaded early game in Baltimore. I hate early games for Denver. Never play well. Surely gotta get this W vs the Raiders at home this early in the season.

Not to mention Baltimore will also be on 10 days rest from playing this Thursday.

Wounded, weakened AND DESPERATE opponent. Can't overlook this division rival. The Broncos are the better team but these types of games can go in strange directions. I'm looking for the Broncos to just improve by cleaning up their mistakes, minimizing the opponent's big plays and continuing to build an offense that is powerful.

I groaned when I saw that @ Baltimore game in an early start as our first road game of the season. That will be a tough game to win. But I’ll worry about that after the Raiders. The most important thing right now is beating them and getting to a 2-0 start.

Meg man is becoming one of my favorite posters - even though I did him dirty last year when he was right about The Trevor and am sorry for it now.

Pretty cool statistical note from last weeks game:

Just wrote an article about this of how good Veldheer did week 1. He is a fun player to watch as he does so well from a technical standpoint. Also does a very good job showing exactly what the Broncos are now teaching their OT's of instead of having their first step in pass blocking be straight back to try and get into position they are having them fire off to the side and get their hands on the defender early in the set. Veldheer does it perfectly. Bolles does pretty good at it but needs to learn to time up his punch with his feet better. He is late with his punch some.

I'm pretty stoked about the fact Gruden has a 10 year, $100m contract with Oakland/Los Angeles/Oakland/Las Vegas.

Already dismantled a playoff caliber team this season

Overall record with the Raiders: 38-27
Overall record with the Bucs: 57-56

I'm not quite sure the reason for the infatuation with Jon Gruden.

I'm not quite sure the reason for the infatuation with Jon Gruden.

He has always been looked upon more generously than he should. He had a nice little run at the beginning of the 2000's but otherwise has been pretty pedestrian. The Raiders got built up to a championship caliber team during that time but it is funny to me as much as he is a QB guru as everybody says Rich Gannon became an MVP QB after Gruden left. His time in Tampa he didn't really produce a quality starting QB so just seems like that is more his own branding of himself than actual production on the field. I would call Kyle Shannahan or McDaniels more of a QB guy than Gruden at this point in the league.
