It'd be nice if leagues played all 14 teams 11 times each (154 games) and 8 interleague games. That way there's no unbalanced schedule.Especially since the schedule is not evenly balanced.

Even then, which American League team plays the Giants and which one plays the Pirates. Now it is true that that not foreseeable when the schedule is made but it does exist. It'd be nice if leagues played all 14 teams 11 times each (154 games) and 8 interleague games. ...or, scrap interleague play and go back to 154. Farfetched I know, but it would be ideal symmetrically.Even then, which American League team plays the Giants and which one plays the Pirates. Now it is true that that not foreseeable when the schedule is made but it does exist.
The other option is to eliminate the divisions and just play for playoff position. Of course that would eliminate the sale of "Division Champs" tee shirts because who buy, "My Team is the 6th Seed" tee shirts.
Red Sox in this race...
I think inter-league play is one of the better things about the changes in baseball. I like to see teams like the Red Sox and Yankees come to town. The Giants playing the A's is interesting as well in the Bay Area for bragging rights. I could do without the Twins and the Royals but Inter-league play is nice...or, scrap interleague play and go back to 154. Farfetched I know, but it would be ideal symmetrically.

red sox-4
4 games to go
can we have a 4 way tie for ALWC?
Let's hope not. Yanks really need a win tonight. Assuming the sox win tonight, that would mean 4 teams separated by 1 game with 3 left
I think the Yanks can lose 1 more game of the next 4.
Anymore than that and they'll be on the outside looking in, barring someone else's collapse.
I don't know about all of that. You're assuming the jays, sox, and mariners sweep?
2-2 leaves them tied with the Mariners and Jays even if those teams win out. 2-2 is all thats needed to guarantee playing baseball after Sunday. 3-1 lock them in for a likely home wc game imo
All three of those teams are playing doormats, while the Yankees are playing the best record in the AL. LIke I said, hope they clinch HF tonight.
A couple of months ago I wanted those last 3 to mean something. Now I want them to mean absolutely nothing.
But are we talking about them not getting HFA for the WC or missing out period(including any tiebreaker games)
Them missing out period is highly unlikely. That only can happen if they go 0-4 or 1-3

if rays win final 4 how do yanks win 2Can someone explain the tiebreaker to me?
Kay saying if the rays and Sox win their final 4 while Yankees win 2 of 4 then they are out.
How?
if rays win final 4 how do yanks win 2
yes at worse if yanks win 2 they play a playoff game for wc2 vs jays/sea/bos(any of the 3 or all of them)The way i have it is if yanks win 2 of 3 vs tampa while jays sweep the Os then they are both at 92-70 which would setup a 1 game playoffs to face most likely Boston. Right or wrong?
