RIP

I'm glad that his health temporarily seemed to rebound last year giving him more quality time with his loved ones.

Trying to fight back tears while I type.

One of my first memories i have growing up is going to meet him at tillicum mall( there is a discrimpisie (sp) about the age being 5 or 9).

There is a pharse i heard in wrestling once and a modfied version of it has been playing in my head for a past hour. I think it sums it up:

"There is legends, there is icons and then there is Rushmore".

Gord was Rushmore.

Rip great 9

I can't believe this. Ever since I heard the news about 20 minutes ago I can't stop balling. I never had the good fortune of meeting or knowing the man personally, but this is hard.

RIP Mr. Hockey. Thank you for the memories. You will be missed.

You mean "bawling".

I didn't post this just to be a know-it-all dick, I was thinking that kind of mistake could potentially be dangerous for you if used in the wrong sentence in the future

Gordie Howe had only 22 fighting majors in his pro hockey career.

Tough as he was he mostly stuck to playing the game.

RIP, Gordie. The most complete player to ever lace the skates. Gretzky was the greatest scorer, but Howe was the greatest player.

Good point. He used those finely-sharpened elbows smartly. Not many who could knock you on your ass at the defensive end of the ice, then be a fluid scorer at the other end.

I dunno.....most folks had the good sense to back away. See if you can find the pictures of what he did to Lou Fontinato of the Rangers. They were either in Life or Look Magazine.....about 1959?

I started zeroing in on watching him the 2nd yr I was a hockey freak, rather than always following the play. He had a way of a quick glance around where the zebra was, if the ref wasn't watching up came his stick or elbows. He was pretty damn good at that. :D
