I also agree that while Heard should have got more PT, nobody would be arguing who's the better RB if Ameer didn't fumble so much. He ends almost every run with his limbs in the air like he got shot in the ass instead of staying low and pushing on for extra yardage, which obviously resulted in plenty of bad things. If they really are coaching that out of him, then he'll be great this year.

We're not even remotely close to the only team that has problems with too much depth at RB, the only difference is we aren't threatening the guys playing with attrition/medical expulsion. Bottom line, you sign to play for a powerhouse running team loaded at that position, take your lumps or GTFO otherwise you don't got what it takes. All eyes on AG this year, little ****

Man I see why heard left he doesn't even get love among most fans

Heard was a good back that never got a chance and to be honest probably was hurt by himself coming a year late than expected .

But he had a smooth running and jump the gun on leaving Nebraska but I guess he didn't want to be SB/rb combo. If you have AA heard as cross those freshman rb don't come or one splits to another school.

Heard had talent just a crowded backfield and talented wr group, now the offense has too many weapons If he had come on schedule he might be that guy today's that AA is now.

So, based on what we are all saying here, the following assumptions can be made:

If Ameer Abdullah is playing in the NFL, so too will be Braylon Heard.

Is this correct?

Depends on what UK does with him

But now he can add that to his resume that I played in the SEC

But he's a good back just bad timing

Yesterday I went on a 12+ hour football bender. I watched the remaining 8 Husker games that were on my DVR from last year. Some things popped up at me for going into this season.

1. PJ Smith had a lot of almost INTs last year that went in and out of his hands. Thank god he is gone.

2. Can Ameer replace the unbelievable vision and tough yards that Rex had and got for us? Ameer had a tendency to lean through holes last year and not keep his feet under him and just fall forward.

3. Can we please stop with the countless false starts and illegal formations? That is kindergarten stuff that needs to stop.

4. Typically, fumbling!!!!!

5. What mediocre RB are we going to allow to go crazy on us? Carlos Hyde comes to mind.

There were other questions but my brain is fried.

- complicated defense schemes
- being cute at the wrong time off and def
-being stubborn aka bo
- not letting the defense fly and attack
- taking forever to get lineup on defense
-trying to call the perfect game and ending up getting out coached

Simplify and execute!

It's not about the NFL. Lots of guys are great in college but do nothing in the NFL. Other guys are decent in college and great in the NFL.

Unless Ameer can learn to keep his feet under him when he goes through tight holes in order to stay up and not just fall forward, he is not an NFL RB. It isn't just about his fumbling issues, which is a big deal.

Terrell Davis was a good, not great, RB at Georgia. Then was great in the NFL. Ron Dayne was great in college but not in the NFL.

Hell, I thought Dan Alexander was better than Buckhalter. Obviously Buckhalter made it to the NFL and Alexander didn't.

This convo isn't about who makes it to the NFL.

I know......I just like to take things to extremes sometimes to get a reaction out of folks on forums...

Anyways, Heard now plays for Kentucky so Ameer is #1 and Braylon is #100

I was high on Ameer coming out of high school because his running style reminded me of Rozier. I don't see that style so much anymore so that has waned. I still like him because he is a hard worker and servicable. Hard to believe he fasts through 2-a-days and stays fit. My critiques are the same as Jeds regarding keeping his feet. A good RB needs a low center of gravity. Rex has a good low center of graviity but lacked in other areas.

It's been a long time since Nebraska has fielded a complete back (LP).

My expectations are probably highest for Enunwa right n ow. Of the skill players, I think he's the best NFL material. Big bodied rcvr who can run, block, and catch. Kenny Bell will get the limelight at this level though.

That's most people's question. We won't know until Nebraska meets an oppponent that is top 25 material.
That is where coaching and conditioning come into play.

irule had a special source over at the Red Sea Scrolls tell him in private message that the Defensive Line is the best it's ever been.

Mauro Bondi

I think his kicks are a little low and they will be blocked.

I can't believe you are not worried about Punting and Punt Returns.

I will add SPECIAL Teams as something I question.
