Putting 400 yards in prospective

While we are all impressed with Cam Newton's 400 yard performances in the first two games. It should be noted that Brady has also thrown for 400+ through 2. Also 14 QBs threw for 300 yards last week. My point being that while it has been impressive to watch, I think that the stat is going to become deluded pretty quickly. With the league going more and more to a passing league, 400 yards may start to become the norm and an expectation for the truly elite passers like Rodgers, Brady, Brees.

Established QB's in the same systems surrounded by the same players are ahead of the curve right now. It will come back down to earth soon.

Brees, Brady, Rivers will always be studs, though.

This, of course, makes Cam's performance even that much more impressive. He had little time to learn the offense and practice it. He's completely dominated thus far. he's just that damn good. He's a freak.

I'm the first to admit that Cam has been better than I thought, but let's not get too carried away by yardage numbers. Yardage wins shit. He threw 3 picks too, and had a 72 QB rtg. He's one of the more exciting stories in the league right now, but he's not a top 10 QB quite yet.

LOL. Brady, Rivers, Rodgers, Payton if healthy, Ryan, Freeman, Ben, Brees, Stafford, Vick, Schaub, Flacco, Bradford, Eli are all guys I'd take over Newton right now. Maybe a few others. He's thrown for a bunch of yards (nice, but meaningless), and is 0-2, but looks much better than I thought he would.
