Hopefully a kid or two at the forward position lights things up, just to keep the Canucks roster honest come October.

Shirokov, Schroeder, and Hodgson all have a good chance of making the team this year out of camp. I don't expect all three to be in the opening day line-up but for the first time in as long as I can remember we actually have prospects to get excited for.

Rodin has looked good during international play, too.

I'm still baffled at how Shirokov was such a stud in camp last year, and then completely disappeared when the games started to matter. Like a light switch.
hopefully his year on the Moose has leveled things out a bit. It would be a pleasant surprise if he made a realistic push for a spot, emphasis on surprise.

I'm excited to see how Connauton looks at this level

Shirokov was an AHL all-star and hopefully a year of NA hockey has given him the experience he needs.

I thought about including Rodin but I think he needs at least one more year to become physically ready.

As much as I love of what I've seen of Rodin, i think he is 2 years away, one year to get the physical side and then one year in the AHL.

Schroeder should make the jump in 2011.

Agreed on Shirokov, hopefully the light switch stays on; if not, i think he's a goner to the KHL.

I'm more curious about 4 names on the backend:
Connauton, Kevin 6'1" 196
Ellington, Taylor 6'2" 209
Oberg, Evan 6'2" 165
Sauve,Yann 6'3" 220

How is Oberg 6'2 and 165?? that has to be a typo, just checked he`s 6`0.

Sauve and Ellington are both pretty big boys, would like to see them show something in the preseason, especially Sauve.

I hear ya on the D, but, aside from true phenoms like Myers and Doughty, they usually take a long time to develop. How many years was Bryan Allen our "Dman of the future" stuck in the minors? Hehe

A player I'm interested in seeing is Eddie Lack. He'll be the starter in Manitoba if all goes well for him. 22 year old from Sweden who has size and quickness. He went undrafted and I believe this is another Gradin discovery.

I've wathed Sauve play the last 4 years in junior. I'd be very surprised if he cracks the Canucks lineup this upcoming season. I would say he needs at least a year in the NHL to develop his skills, especially the physical part of his game. The Q league is such a joke nowadays. If a bigger guy like Sauve ever hits another player, they usually find some excuse to give them a penalty basically for nothing other than being bigger and hitting too hard. Sauve came into the league at 16 and wanted to use his size but after being penalized so often for it, he toned it down a bit. By the time he was 19, he was playing a lot softer than he could/should have been. A year with the Moose will do him good. He also needs to work on his urgency to move the puck when in his own end. He finally started to shoot the puck more late in his junior career. Hopefully for his sake this carries over into his pro career.
