I'd rather see Feldman and Oswalt flip flop positions right now and let Oswalt have a rotation spot for the last month against division rivals. I trust Oswalts experience more than Feldman's ability to sleep walk on the mound.

I agree. There's no sense in having Feldman pitch every fifth day if he's not going to be on the playoff roster.

Or taking Moreland out of the lineup at first base if they make it to the WS.

I'm hoping those day are over. At least they should be as long as Moreland keeps his current level of play where it has been since his DL stint.

It should be, but I don't put anything past Wash at this point.

He would basically be competing for the long spot with Oswalt and given Oswalts post season experience and effectiveness in short relief appearances I would prefer Oswalt.

I think the decision of Oswalt or Feldman is going to depend on their overall work since the ASB and how they are trending the last two weeks of the regular season.

I think a long reliever who only goes 2.0IP couple of times a week when SPs need help getting through 6.0 or into the 7th gets more opportunities to shine and is less exposed than your #5. Since both of them are competing for that role then advantage may be to the guy who is pitching in that role last.

Oswalt recent (more current) post season is checkered ... not sure I'd consider it a plus. He was 1-1 in 3 starts in 2010 (2.75ERA) in the NLDS and NLCS and 0-1 in 2011 NLDS (7.50ERA) ... giving up 4HRs (1.83HR/9) across those two most recent post seasons. Pitching for HOU in 2004-2005 post seasons I think is too long ago to have much relevance toward predicting his capability in 2012.

Oswalt will make the post season roster depending on what he has shown since the ASB. If it is a push in performance between Feldman and Oswalt I wouldn't be surprised to see TEX go with Feldman who they have a contract with for 2013 over Oswalt who they don't.

$50 says Profar doesn't get rewarded with another start this week.

just got home, why did they pull Kinsler?

Low back stiffness. Maybe he could get another start. Would live for him to be our UIF punch hitter in October. What a weapon to have a quality switch hitter to pinch hit.

Profar could replace a player put on the DL in October, but cannot be named to the initial roster. I wish MY would go on the DL October 1.

Thought the quote attributed to Wash by Jamey this morning was revealing ...

“I knew I was going to give Elvis a day today, but I never really gave any thought to starting Profar”

Huh? Not even a thought? Could have said that with late arrival of the call ups that he didn't want to push him into a start ... that would have been a better answer. Could have even said that he wanted MY to make a start at SS too even that would be a better answer.

But he didn't say either ... said "never really gave any thought to starting Profar". That's either disingenuous or oblivious.

Like I've said. The man is either clueless or obstinate. Both are incredibly bad qualities to have in your manager heading into October.

with lower back stiffness i would not be surprised to see Profar start tomorrow at 2B and maybe Tuesday

You might be right. Sooner or later Wash is going to want to see how Profar handles a daily does of 2b (lower risk than SS). Potential for Kinsler out at lower-risk KC may certainly result in more starts for Profar.

With Bruce Chen going for KCR tomorrow ... do we get to see Profar at 2b and Olt at 1b? (Of course with MY at DH).

Doesnt sound like it to me....

His logic is there... Profar wont really be playing in the playoffs (unless an injury occurs...). So why try to get him in games left and right?

He just said that they dont need as many days off as people think they do... soooo....

Keeping him engaged now creates more likelihood he'll be more prepared if called upon in October though IMO. Ian's a competitor and competitors don't like not playing and don't always realize the benefit of getting rest down the stretch. That says good things about Ian's competitiveness though.

Which we've all questioned at one time or another this season and in season's past....

As for Profar, I believe playing him the way they have...actually prepares him better than playing a couple days a week. Think about it...

Which would be better for him? Play a couple days a week to playing an at-bat or two a series (once a week?)... or... play once a week to playing at at-bat or two a series (once a week?).

Current rate gets him more acclimated/prepared... IMO.

I think Profar needs to play some. Not every day like the prospectphiles want but he should be playing because he has the potential to make an impact and that includes in post season. If you were talking about Olt or other guys who has struggled to make the adjustment then I agree with Kinsler. What is the point? But Profar is different. Much different.

Profar isn't going to be the starting shortstop or second baseman but needs to be ready just in case something catastrophic happens. Plus, he can always pinch hit, play as a defensive replacement or pinch runner or whatever else is needed. The guy just has something special if you ask me.

Olt's taken a lot of undue flack for "not making the adjustment". He looked good when he first came up and was gettin AB's. Then he stopped getting AB's and the plantar fasciitis thing came up. Both probably greatly affected his performance.

not sure that he took that much flack as much as i think some put too much emphasize on his early success at the plate. i know a lot of people were hoping that he would be the Rangers answer to Mike Trout and expected that he would immediately seize a spot in the lineup. i expect that both he and Profar are going to be Rangers stars in the not-too-distant future and for a long time.
