First in this picture here. We have 3rd and 9. Look at the options you have Bush a few yards up the field and then a WR beyond the first down marker. Why throw to Bush? Basically hoping he breaks 3 tackles with his back turned rather than hit the Open receiver.

Next here we have the one where Stafford takes a sack when he could have had Ebron for a big gain. This shows when Ebron gets the separation. Look at the pocket around Stafford. Both tackles are getting beat. Stafford has to step up and our guards and centers are being pushed back. Stafford has almost no time to get see, recognize and throw the ball to Ebron while the pocket around him collapses. O line failed on this one, not Matt.

Right out of the gate they have 20 seconds to get in FG range. Sammy Watkins should be the guy we are watching. Yet he is one on one with Mathis with no help near by. Now ideally our CB can win 1 on 1 but in a game winning spot, with their #1 we should have help there.

Now not to praise orton too much here but this is great QB/WR play. As soon as Sammy starts to cut, Orton is putting the ball in front of him. Mathis has no chance on that ball. Whitehead is trying to rush over but wont make it, one safety is playing very deep, and the other moved way up. Against the Bills best player, biggest playmaker, we do nothing to account for him with the game on the line.

It is pretty cool seeing where the breakdown is happening. I am seeing a lot of things i have been pissed about Stafford being stupid is O line failing and WR's failing to get open. Couple of these sacks we have 4 guys in 1 on 1 coverage and noone gets open at all.

I do not agree with your analysis of the second one though. The ball should been released before that frame. In other words he should have been just releasing the ball at that time. He was already open and split the LBs and waiting any longer would just give the safeties a chance to make a play. The ball should have been in Ebron's hands just before the 35.


On the last play, the safety was playing too deep. Should have been 5 yards closer. Was he really expecting a hail mary? A couple of yards could have made a difference.

I agree with OldLion about the Ebron play 100%. Once Stafford read zone coverage(should have been immediately) from the LBs, the ball should've been out

Remember Stafford knows what route Ebron is running. He's not waiting for him to be open, but once the LB sits in short zone he should know Ebron is about to ba all alone.

You guys make good points. I am saying that from the time Ebron get separation until the time Stafford got sacked was about 2 seconds

Orton threw a bad ball and Watkins made a circus catch.

Ok, Im currently watching the film as I type this and already through the very first series, I see good and bad.

On the second play of the game, Stafford has Ebron open wide left on a 10 yard in route. Ebron is one on one with a corner and beats him with a nice route. On the other side, Fuller runs a deep post and has a step on the CB with no safety help. The problem here was that Stafford doesnt even have two seconds to throw and scrabled away.

On the third play, Stafford has Tate wide open because the safety help came down on Ebron. Stafford made his read too soon and threw it to Bush.
