Preseason Week 3 is the game where tradition says the teams will actually take seriously, st least for a half.

If you want to know where you stand, this is the team to test your new regime against.

How much can really be taken out of the first two preseason games when a) they were just preseason and b) they were so Jekyll-Hyde different?

The ability to generate pass rush will be absolutely crucial because this secondary can not stop Peyton Manning without it.

Running the ball to keep that offense on the sidelines and take pressure off our own quarterback situation is a must. Hope Grimes and Blue continue to show what they have so far this preseason.

I'd like to finally see JJ, Clowney and Cushing on the field all at the same time. If that trio can cause problems for the Denver offense, they can wreak havoc on anyone.

Lastly, I'd like to see a cutdown on penalties.....who am I kidding. There's not going to be a cutdown on penalties because the NFL doesn't want a cutdown on penalties. Nothing can be done about that.

Very excited to see this game. Clowney and Watt bring a big time test to the Broncos new revamped OL. So far they have shut down 2 very good DL's but neither of those 2 lines have somebody like Watt so we shall see what happens. Plus loving that these two teams are getting together for practice this week.

The mismatch so far appears to be the Texans offense against what should be a much improved Denver defense. With the addition of Ware and others, Denver has strengthened that side of the ball and the Texans offense looked real good against Atlanta but was real bad at Arizona.

If the game gets out of hand, it will be because of what Denver's defense is doing to the Texans offense.

For me I am more focused towards the Broncos offense vs. the Texans defense at this point. The Texans on paper have a top-10 unit in my opinion and offer up what has been the Broncos Achilles heal to the offense in pressure from the outside and inside on Peyton. If they can handle Watt and Clowney with the New OL they have then I will honestly feel a bit better heading into the season of what this team can do.

The game could be unusually chippy after the two teams have spent a few days practicing against one another.

I can neither confirm nor deny personally how they looked, but if Peyton Manning's comments are an indication, it sounds like the Texans' defense gave them some fits yesterday at their joint practice.

Peyton is a perfectionist. Reporters at the practice said the offense of the Broncos won quite a few of the battles but that Houston definitely won their fair share as well. I would guess the fact that every drive didn't end in a touchdown was very upsetting to him. Plus I do think he was trying to make sure teammates stay motivated as the 34-0 beat down they put on the 49ers gave the team quite a bit of confidence. I think he just wants to make sure they don't think they are ready to go yet and keep working.

Watt happy winning, not fighting at practice | CSN Houston

For the past two days J.J. Watt has been involved in skirmishes with the Broncos. But Watt hasn't done much fighting.

He takes it as a compliment that some Broncos want to get chippy with him.

“Yeah, I’ll take it any chance I can get because normally, you don’t normally fight when you win the rep," Watt told reporters in Colorado. "I have no interest in fighting someone when I beat you. So when I go out there, that’s why I don’t really get into in to fights. That’s why when somebody hits me, I don’t feel the need to hit back because you can turn on the film, see what happened.”

On Thursday, Watt got into it with Orlando Franklin. On Wednesday, it was Chris Clark.

“I’m sure anytime you go against, in my opinion, probably the best defensive player in the league, you know, you’re probably excited to go against that guy," head coach Bill O'Brien said. "So there’s a little extra rev. But J.J.’s got great poise. He had a good week here this week and we’re expecting really good things from him this year.”

Watt, the 6-5, 289-pound defensive end has been a Pro Bowler and an All Pro in each of his last two seasons.

Last week, he went up against rookie first-round pick Jake Matthews, a battle that was featured on an episode of HBO's "Hard Knocks." That encounter was much friendlier than the ones he's had in Colorado.

"The only time they talk is after a play when I won, so I don’t really have anything to say to that," Watt said. "That’s fine. If you want to fight, that’s fine. It’s just funny to me when people want to fight after you get beat on a play, but that’s fine. That’s football."

Fitz was 5 for 7 ... but for only 23 yards. Less than 5 yards per completion?

Yuck....

Two Broncos defenders end up hurt in one play.

Of course, a flag is called.

A penalty against the Broncos.

Welcome to Roger Goodell's National Football League.
