The most impressive parts of those "highlights" are that the two porcelain dolls, Jones and Eifert managed to not get hurt on those plays

Put McCarron in the Hall of Fame. He made 2 good throws in a preseason game, against a terrible team. Super Bowl bound.

Well, to McCarron's defense, I have not seen Dalton make three of those throws in 4 years as the starting QB of this team. Touch, timing, precision. I still think McCarron lacks desired arm strength, but those previous three mentioned items can offset a lot of arm strength.

Here he is converting a 3rd and 7 with a nice blitz coming.

And then here is one that didn't count.

So, does that make it 4 now?

Whit worth got beat like a drum on that play that didn't count. In his quotes he made it sound like it was a 'timing' issue..... Okay buddy, whatever you say.

I think we should at least consider adding him to our preseason ring of honor. The first two participants, Dontay Moch and DeDe Dorsey, could use company.

Know who else looked great in the pre-season?

Didi Dorsey. Dude was all-world in the pre-season.

Glad he looked good, but until the real games start, it doesn't mean much.

I still think DeDe Dorsey could have been a damn fine RB had he been given a chance in the regular season. At least as good as Boom Herron had done last year for the Colts going to a new team and getting a chance to start versus sitting on our bench.

And then here is one that didn't count.

My 4th one, I was not thinking of this one. I was thinking of the pass on 3rd down to AJ Green where he threw it slightly behind him since his defender had a step on him in front. So instead of leading AJ Green into a very tough catch, he threw it slightly behind him where he was the only one who had a chance to even make the catch.

The play that starts at 53 seconds into this video:

I'm just saying that the NFL trash bin is filled with guys were looked great in the pre-season.

I'll also say that if someone like Didi was that good SOMEONE would have given him a chance. Clearly, he just didn't show enough.

We will agree to disagree on DeDe. That subject has been rehashed 100 times on here.

However, I will talk about McCarron again, and something Dalton never seems to do....read this excerpt from the game:

Then on the next drive, McCarron hit tight end Tyler Eifert on a 25-yarder as he beat inside linebacker Christian Jones leaking over the middle. Dalton and McCarron had their way against the Bears inside backers in piling up a 12-for-12 passing first half.

McCarron said his progression wasn’t even supposed to take him to Eifert.

“Eif got a really good release,” McCarron said. “He was on the back side of my read and I just saw him flash. I wasn’t even supposed to look that way. If he flashes, I can get it to him.”

When was the last time Dalton ignored his natural read progressions to hit a wide open target?

I take back what I said about McCarron after his first game. He looks pretty good. The gap between him and Dalton isn't very big. If Andy misses any time this season with injury(please oh please Hue..run more QB sneaks!) he may never get his job back.

Oh who am I kidding? I forgot what team I pull for. We're more likely to release AJ.

my guess is Andy will be the starter all season.

unless of course, they choose to sit him for a 7pm game, in which case they can make him the starter again for the next 1pm game.

(if you are taking this serious then !!@# !@#)

Funny things I keep reading these arm strength complaints about McCarron when his arm is just as strong as Andy....You mofos act like Andy is Flacco......BOL! AJ > Andy....Better leadership better accuracy wont make the decisions that Andy made and has played in big ass games all his life.... The 40yarder from the 50 called back cause of soft ass whits block.. the slant on a dime to MArvin..The back shoulder throw to Eifert the back shoulder throw to Green....Then look at the quotes from Vets THAT NEVER SAID THESE THINGS ABOUT ANDY! "True leader" from Green.... Marvin had good things to say.....Pacman, Dre K ALL OF EM. Are saying things they NEVER said abiout Andy in terms of Leadership and accuracy..... When the players talk like that....Thats when you need to PAY ATTENTION! WHY???? They see the growth everyday way more than some of these fake ass Mike Mayocks out there......LMFAO!

To be fair, most of the arm strength talk comes from his college scouting reports and what was said about him during the pre-draft process. None of us are professional scouts so really what more is there to go off of? His arm seems fine to me. He's played about 5 quarters of professional football so not enough sample size to really say whether it's an issue or not.

I don't think anybody is arguing any of your other points. The big game pedigree, fiery personality and leadership have all been flaunted by everyone. It certainly showed on the field against the Bears. He looked poised, confident and got through his progesssions quickly. He made two accurate and timely throws that I've yet to see Andy make in 4 years as a starter. Color me intrigued. I wanna see more.

Let's be real here though, it was one game. A preseason game at that. Let's see how he handles inside pressure, picking up exotic blitzes, and throwing into tighter windows. The Bears are one of the worst teams in the NFL.

For the record, I'm all for letting AJ get a shot. I think he could be better than Dalton. Which honestly isn't saying a lot. Most everyone on this board is over the whole Dalton thing. Hell, id rather they start Tebow than watch anymore of the Baige Waterpistol.

Undisputed fact: Andy Dalton will be the starter come hell or high water. Not changing. No matter how good AJ looks or how much we debate it. The only hope is that Hue runs QB sneaks all game until someone like JJ Watt rips Dalton in half.

Seriously... 4 QB sneaks in a preseason game? Risking injury to your starting QB? Hue Jackson is a blowhard.

Jeff Blake had lots of arm strength. he just couldn't convert the mid-range passes.

Carson Palmer has shit loads of Arm strength. He might be better than Dalton, but he ain't going to win $hi7 either.
