There is just simply no chance.

It's math. That's all it is.

There are 95,000 seats in the stadium and there are 500,000 of me in this state. We could be 0-10 heading into the final weeks of November and I am still showing up.

There are too many dumbasses like myself in this state to let it happen.

Another thing you have to understand here is that the kid who wrote that article/blog is 27 years old and is an Iowa fan.

I know a guy from my hometown who has had season tickets for the past 30 years but he quit going to the games 10 years ago and refuses to go until we get good again. He's a ridiculous poor loser.

Anyways, he still buys the damn tickets every year because he cannot possibly stand the idea of not buying them and then suddenly we end up with a good team that year.

People who have season tickets are not just simply going to start forking them over. Season tickets to Husker games is like finding a pot of gold on your front steps. The gold could go down to 2 cents an ounce.........you're not gettin rid of it, because it's too shiny and neat looking and makes you feel good just having it.

One question. Is it normal to have season tickets available 2 months before kickoff?

Just asking because it used to be as you said, when one person gave up their seat there was 10 waiting.
Now they are advertising seats available and it is almost July.

I really don't know. Is that normal now?

I haven't looked at that article. Nothing that makes me have this opinion comes from that article.

My reasons are

1. You can see every game in the comfort of your own home or favorite sports bar.
2. The availability of tickets shows a trend that can only end up with breaking the sellout streak if something is not done to reverse it.
3. Assuming that I am not alone when I think about how I feel like I was kicked in the balls when we get blown out. No one is going to keep paying to get kicked in the balls no matter how dumb they are.

3 ways to get a $10 ticket to ANY Nebraska game.

1. Be willing to miss the pregame, tunnel walk, and kick-off. At that point a scalper will take what he can get. He doesn't want to eat what he has left.
2. Buy a single seat. They are the hardest for a scalper to get rid of because people go together and want to sit next to family or friends. He makes his real money off of pairs or more.
3. Be willing to sit in the end zone nose bleeds.

Once you've done one of those 3, write an article instilling fear into the gullible that the sellout streak is in jeopardy because you got a $10 ticket. Enjoy!!!

Tickets that used to be single game reserved seats (upper end zone) are now available as season tickets. Who gets them will be determined by a points system. You accrue points over the years based upon how much you've donate a particular year. There is a long waiting list, so if you've never made a donation, don't bother applying for the tickets as you will be at the bottom of the list.

It's obvious the cad that wrote the article is trolling as the only "general admission" seats in Memorial are student section (first come first served). Every other seat in the place is a reserved seat.

I hadn't read it either until zorbies post (#15) and it became blatantly obvious something was amiss. You've always been able to get cheap tickets down there for one or all three of the reasons I specified. It's what the writer isn't saying that makes it food for the gullible.

They got the east stadium expansion seats sold off as season tickets and now they're converting upper level end zone seats that used to be individual game reserved seats into season tickets.

You really don't think there are a plethora of people willing to drop $392 for a season ticket? They'd have to go thru a lot of people willing to donate on top of that before they ever get to the folks with only $392 to spend. They'll go to the highest bidder above $392.

You're just playing devil's advocate. Surely there is no way in hell that you could ever possibly think that Nebraska fans are just going to stop buying tickets.

What else would we even do during that time of year? People in this state plan their entire year around the Football Season. It means a lot to them.

It would be like trying to quit fapping. There is one irule in the bunch who is coo coo enough to go through with it, but after thinking it through or even trying to imagine it in your head, you will end up realizing you can't go on without it.

The east stadium expansion coupled with the new "Seat Yourself" online process opened up a bunch of endzone season tickets. On top of that they converted 500 seats that had prreviously been sold on a "per game basis" into season tickets.
The only season ticket seats that don't require an additional donation are north endzone rows 90-99.

You know, the $10 scalpers ticket the writer likely refers to.

BTW, the BTN thing about "all the games being on tv" hurting ticket sales is de minimis.
PPV was available in the comfort of your living room for $30 on games not televised by a network and that didn't hurt ticket sales. $30 is a lot cheaper than buying a ticket, parking, concessions, gas, etc..

We always did ppv as a group with friends, so you could divide the $30 by how many were there.

I think it will be safe. the sellout survived 02, 04 and 07 season so it's gonna take a back to back collapse season of 5-7 losses for it to be seriously in jeopardy.

Yes it did. But again better TV deal. And seating cap. was 5,000 different and prices too.

tickets now for me to take my 3 sons. min of 200 to 300 dollars.

I will still go at least 1 to 2 times this year.

And then there's the fact that as a fanbase we are psycho and have to win everything.

Every online poll......everything.

We would never let the longest sellout streak in the history of the universe just vanish. Never.

What in the hell are some of you thinking?

yes the sellout streak will last for awhile. Nebraska fans are faithful, no matter how there team does. There will always be people who will go to every home game because they love the stadium atmosphere.

There are seats in that stadium that are literally worth 0 dollars.

I've been in them before. They are the last couple rows up under the West overhang. You can't even see the Nebraska sideline. You can see just part of the field, and any pass or kick is immediately out of your view. There were several plays that ran to that side of the field that we just sat their wondering what happened.

I wouldn't let a person pay me $50 to take those seats from them. They are the worst seats I've ever seen in my life hands down anywhere ever in the history of ever.

It's a tricky deal too cuz the tickets will say like Row 47 or something......so right away you think "oh that's not bad."

It's real bad. Real real bad.

LOL. I've seen those seats. They have tv's mounted above your head because you can't see the big screen. The runza farts linger because no breeze reaches in.

There's probably a runza fart lingering up in there right now from last season.

Well no fucking shit Sherlock. It's always been that way in front of the stadium, even in the mid 90's you could buy tickets for face value or below if you waited until last minute. The reason is what you stated. The scalper will taking anything as opposed to nothing. If the clown that wrote the post would have waited until 15 minutes after the game started, he probably could have gotten his MSU ticket for $5. That would have made his article even more ALARMING to suckers like you, huh?

Don't confuse a modernized ticket renewal system for begging people to buy season tickets. :L

Husker football fans enjoy new ticket system - Omaha.com: Big Red Today - Huskers

Why don't you tell this to JJM? He's the one who thought someone was bullshitting to be able to get a ticket to a big game for under ticket price at a Nebraska game. By the way dumbass, my last post was about how to get tickets at the stadium, not season passes.
