I almost picked the Chiefs. Sadly, I have a feeling that the Broncos are going to lose BUT I just couldn't bring myself to picking against my team in this all important Broncos board weekly contest!

I was hoping I could have the reverse effect by picking them.

I hate playing Thursday night on the road. I know everyone loves a Thursday night game. More football to watch, but I think it is awful for the NFL. There were so many bad games last year with road times getting blown out on short weeks. I don't think we get blown out. But I despise playing on the road Thursday night.

I know it seems to logical but it is the truth so Ill say it.

If we run the ball well we win, if not we lose.

both D's will play the pass well.

I see it more as a 12- 9 game at this point.

I don't know if any of you remember but this game has the feeling of that 9-6 game that was won in overtime by the Broncos back in like 2006 or something. For me that game will always be memorable as I was surrounded by Chiefs fans so when the Broncos kicked the game winner in overtime there were only a few of us Bronco fans cheering. Unfortunately the guy sitting next to me was the starting Center for K-State who proceeded to lift me above his head and spin me around until another Chiefs fan jumped off my couch grabbed me out of his arms and took me through a wall putting me in a head lock and almost causing me to black out.

Anyway long story for me to say

17-Broncos
10-Chiefs

330 yards.

Broncos win 20-9. Still no wide receiver touchdowns for the Chiefs.

The Broncos put up 390 yards, a lot of it on the ground.

Oh yeah. I don't want to be the team who the Chiefs break that no WR td's streak on! Let's shut them out anyway.

Yeah kinda why I said 12-9 in previous post and the fact that the offenses will struggle to score tds vs two stingy D's and both teams should be a tad beat up with short wk to boot.

Unfortunately, it sounds like the Broncos are a little more "beat up" than the Chiefs. Fresh legs coming from TJ Ward but we'll see.

This is a tough game for the Broncos, but think about it, lads: The pressure is all on the Chiefs. Consider all the factors that are setting up what will be an emotionally charged crowd. Berry returns. The promise of a new season in the home opener (and coming on the heals of a week 1 road win). The Broncos recent dominance of the Chiefs. The Chiefs are favored. And the list goes on. Add to it a list of factors working against the Broncos: road team on a short week. Tough opponent for the first roadie of the year. Coming off a contest with one of the more physical teams, leaving the Broncos with a few cuts and bruises. New offense and growing pains.

Honestly it will not surprise anyone to see the Chiefs win it. And if that happens, it is not a major setback for the Broncos. They'll have gotten the dreaded TNF game out of the way, and will have 10 days to prepare for the next opponent. They'll also get another crack at the Chiefs in Denver. But if the Broncos win it: well go over to Arrowhead Addict or Arrowhead Pride and see what the Chiefs fans are saying. They have not even considered the possibility that that the Broncos will win this one. Some have even suggested the Ravens offense (which is significantly better than the Chiefs) was so inept it made the Broncos defense look better than it really is. If the Broncos go in there and win that game, it is literally going to destroy morale in that fan base. And even though a loss wouldn't be a disaster for the Chiefs, it would certainly result in a cloud of despair and "here we go again" hanging over that city.

And I say it happens.

Broncos 23, Chiefs 7. Broncos offense: 304 yards.

The offense will struggle again but I think they'll get an assist from the D and pull away after a turnover sets up a short field and easy scoring opportunity. That Chiefs offense is nothing special. The Texans blanked them in the second half and climbed back into a game. The Texans have a good pass rush and it got after Smith a lot. The Broncos are going to make that Texans pass rush look like a pop-Warner team come Thursday.

Is there such thing as an "easy" scoring opportunity in the NFL? :)
