Post pictures of your gun dogs in here guys. I want to see them all. Pointing dogs, and retrievers.

First, here's princess. My best bird dog. She's 5 years old and became a field trial champion at 3. I rode this girl hard Sunday after hunting hard on Saturday. She always finds birds.

This is Hazard. One of Princess' puppies. He's 18 months old and having his first hunting season. He's a very smart dog who's eager to please. He had his first wild bird finds this weekend.

And my oldest girl, Pepper. I got her at 4. She's 10 now but still finds a lot of birds. She had 5 or 6 finds Saturday and a couple Sunday as well. Even at 10 years old, all she wants to do is hunt.

This is my boy Dudley. He's a 90 pound, 10 month old yellow lab. Gonna be using him for pheasant and ducks starting next year.

Nice. I just got my own black lab recently. He'll be my duck dog.

Love them labs. Mine is considered a "dudley" which means he lacks pigment in his nose, foot pads, eye lids and gums making them a peach color. He also has green/yellow eyes. Very unique look. He is beautiful. Love him a lot and enjoy teaching him. He rings a bell to let me know when he needs to go outside. Sometimes he rings it just to manipulate me into letting him outside.

I live next to a large, open field and one of my neighbors bought a gorgeous brown lab. He has taken it out into the field and started training it. What amazes me is that the dog doesn't flinch one bit when he fires off his shotgun. Is this something that these dogs are inately born with? An old girlfriend got her favorite black lab in a divorce because her husband said it was not fit to be a gun dog. She said the first time he fired the gun, the dog took a dump and hid under a truck.

puppyhood trauma certainly doesn't help...

Our Bubba is 100# of smart loving protective family pet who is scared shitless whenever thunder/fireworks happen. He showed up 10 years ago, as a 5-month old pup, on July 5th - had obviously been running scared all night. I'm not a hunter, but I've no doubts he might have been something way special (smart as hell, even for labs.)

I've got three dogs: two great danes and a terrier mix (smarter than the other two combined). The terrier is in no way afraid of the shot gun going off, and in fact, he stands at the fence and watches. But it's now at the point when my neighbor comes down the road in his ATV, my two danes are banging at the door and begging to come in. They know what's coming.

We condition all of our dogs to guns in the kennel where they feel safe. Can be hard to get a gun shy dog to do anything once they get it.

Great looking dog up top (Princess).

I live in a confined space. Have a small dog now, but always wanted a german short hair/Lab to hunt over. Never stopped me and my buddies from just covering more ground daily by ourselves (two guys on the flanks and one in the bush).

My greatest day of upland bird hunting was limiting out (8 birds apiece) with my good friend and hunting partner while hunting chukkar on steep rocky draws in Eastern, Oregon. One of the hardest upland bird quarries to track down no doubt. We both shot our last birds seconds apart out of the same covey. We just sat down on the warm hillside and laughed together while noting that we accomplished a great feat w/o the help of a good dog. We had hunted those hills for a decade, but never were able to say we limited out.

Happy Holidays and GL to all in their hunts.
