As long as they get the 8 seed.
I figured them making it over 2 or 3 potential 2 loss teams in the SEC would be no problem.

What are you talking about? Fair competition rules is socialism? Every competition that uses rules is socialism?

If we get 6 teams in and Alabama's the #1 seed, I can live with a couple being left out....![]()
Goddamnit, you aren’t helping my argument.
I'm turning over a new leaf and trying to be more reasonable....
The socialism is thinking that teams that have not done little to build college football into what it is today, should get an equal share of the proceeds...where would the FAIRNESS be in that. If the G5 wants fair they can set up their own competition, when it's worth a billion dollars, come back to the table and we'll talk about a merger.
I said nothing about proceeds. No one for example is making the SEC share any money paid to it for its media deals. Beyond that, how could they have done anything to build up college football when they never had a fair competition to begin with? And how many P5 teams actually played a significant role in building college football up to what it is? About a dozen schools have have more NCs and top 2, 4, and 8 finishes than the other 100+ programs combined.
Only 22 P5 teams have never won a National Championship in football in the last 93 years, of those 10 have one in basketball and 6 have a Heisman Trophy winner. The number of P5 teams that have little to no contribution to football being what it is today is smaller than the number of G5 programs that have.
The playoff contract is $470 million annually, of which the G5's are already getting more than their "FAIR" share based on their contribution.

And again, their contribution is what you would expect it to be under various systems designed to maintain the power structure in the sport. If you are given no chance to win, how good could you expect to be? How much could you possibly contribute to growing the sport? And let's even pretend the P5 leagues wanted their help in that regard. P5 leagues want to keep G5 leagues down. What other sports operate in this manner, where the rules of the competition are rigged against another group based on who was there first 93 years ago? Based on who grew the sport when it isn't difficult to be responsible for such when you give yourself all of the advantages?
When the SEC added new members, those teams played under the same competition rules as those who had been in the league forever. And, perhaps not immediately, the new members were eventually granted an equal share of league revenues. Why should FBS football operate differently where there are two classes of teams based on who generates the most money?
All of that aside, I'm not arguing that P5 leagues need to share the money they generate from their own deals. And the two groups can negotiate with each other on what percentage the G5 leagues get out of any playoff contract. All I'm saying is that a competition format that is fair and objective and allows G5 teams to control their playoff destiny will help those teams to attract better recruits and coaches, grow their fanbases, and make more money off of media deals compared to what they exist under now. i get that P5 leagues do not want to give them that opportunity. Of course, they probably benefit off of G5 teams more than vice versa since G5 teams allow them to play 7+ home games every year which is also more games to sell to their networks. It is why P5 leagues don't just leave. If they did, everyone plays equal home and away games unless the new P5 league splits into two classes of teams as well.
The business end of it aside, I would much rather watch a tournament of champions, with all its warts, that an invitational tournament that the participants are chosen by ever-changing criteria.
I would too if I were a Wisconsin fan...

Leave the committee. Top 8. I fail to see how being a P5 conference champion should automatically qualify you. Had Northwestern pulled off an upset in last year's Big 10 game, you'd have a five loss team in the playoff.
That is a bitch. These divisions within conferences can be very unbalanced. It'd be ideal if every conference was identical to the Big XII regarding structure. No more than 10 teams, a round robin schedule, and the top-2 meet in the conference championship. Some of last season's CCG participants:Which is why you would have to eliminate divisions
G5 teams get invited to P5 conferences regularly...and eventually get all the same benefits once they are deemed worthy. Nobody is forcing teams to join FBS, they are getting exactly what they wanted. There are no barriers to entry for a team to move from FCS to FBS....but perhaps there should be.
