...to Dallas for :
  • Courtney Lee
  • Tim Hardaway Jr.
  • Jalen Brunson
  • First round pick
All in all, I don't see a great deal of scenarios where Paul isn't in OKC for at least the next two seasons. That contract is going to be a bitch to move...

Orlando needs a point guard. Maybe they'll bite. Aaron Gordon is not all of that either so... Possible.

That is another terrible trade idea that only helps 1 team.

Why would Dallas give away 2 assets to get a terrible contract back?

Yeah, Hardaway is a bad contract too. But not as bad as Paul.

The team that might actually swing a deal for CP3 is going to be a team that meets the following criteria:

A) thinks they are a piece away from being a solid playoff team
B) has short term bad contracts to give back
C) are not likely to land any significant free agents in the next 3 years

I see Minnesota as the best alternative out there.

Because:

Minnesota has to be in win now mode building around Townes.

Something like:

Teague, Dieng and either Wallace, or Layman

For CP3 and a couple first round picks

Could possibly make sense if Minnesota was willing to take in CP’s contract. Paul would be an upgrade over Teague and maybe Townes won’t hate him?

Destination is fine, but even with Chris Paul, I think Minnesota won't be better than a 10th seed out West.

And he's a teacher's pet / hallway monitor. Towns won't like him lol.

Trade him and picks to Houston, for Westbrook.

They aren’t a contender, but Paul could help them get to the playoffs IFFFF he could stay healthy.

And Minnesota does not have the luxury of dumping salary and rebuilding now, or they might as well kiss KAT goodbye. They have to do anything they can to win as much as they can now.

CP3
Okogie
Wiggins
Covington
Townes

With Culver off the bench is a pretty solid top 6. Not great, but solid.

Miami and Detroit are the two most obvious destinations

Miami might do it,

But it would be a really bad move.

CP3 does not get them over the hump or even on the hump. They should preserve cap space for 2021.

I think he ends up in Miami, really doubt he plays a game for the Thunder.

And why would Dallas do this?

A better question should be - Why shouldn't they want to do it? They have an extra point guard option in Brunson, plus movable contracts to spare in their efforts to take significant playmaking pressure off Doncic.

So, what's the alternative in Dallas to put a team around Luka and 'Zingis??? Pray that some star is going to join them in 2021?

They haven't been the greatest FA destination lately...They've had to pay close to a combined $20 million annually for Seth Curry and Delon Wright for crying out loud.

Make sense. CP3 could easily catapult them into the playoffs teaching them winning ways.

Dallas should have taken Dragic.

Send him to the Knicks or Hornets and get even more picks. Make the whole draft OKC day.

Im not sure why Miami would want him, if it precludes us from adding another max.
