This is the old Mid-Season board... I've updated it to reflect the off-season big board as we enter into the winter season of recruiting. There will be some new names and some familiar names.
1. Noa Pola-Gates (4-Star, S) [Gilbert, AZ] - Gates visited for the Minnesota game and left impressed. Nerbaska still has a ton of work to do here but getting him on campus was step one. Bama will be hard to beat... Nebraska is still hanging in there, if Bama fills up (and they are looking at others ahead of Pola-Gates, the longer this plays out the better for Nebraska.
2. Ty Robinson (4-Star, DE) [Gilbert, AZ] - Robinson has long been considered a Nebraska lean but an OV to USC may have changed things as recently as a week ago. The good news for Nebraska is that they still have the connections with Robinson they did before AND they still have the official visit that Robinson is reportedly taking for the Illinois game. USC recently fired it's DL coach AND Bama is looking at others... this one is looking good for the Huskers right now.
3. Lloyd Summerall (4-Star, DE/OLB) [Lakeland, FL] - Summerall loved his visit to Nebraska, but Nebraska is the only non-Florida school in his final list of schools he's considering. He loves the staff and if distance wasn't a factor I really think Nebraska would be the team to beat. Nebraska won't go down swinging but it's hard to see him leave home. Signs point to Florida currently...
4. Josh Sanguinetti (4-Star, S) [Fort Lauderdale, FL] - Sanguinetti has yet to use many of his official visits but he did release a top 8 at the beginning of September (Auburn, Florida, Michigan, Miami, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, and Stanford). It seems that there could be a Top three of Nebraska, Michigan and Stanford currently. Nebraska has yet to get a visit but are pushing for one in December.
5. Markquese Bell (4-Star, JUCO S) [Coffeyville CC] - Bell, a former consensus 4-star recruit, was once a Maryland player but transferred to Coffeyville after his freshman year. Nebraska is his lone offer currently, but more are sure to come. This recruitment has been quiet as a bird lately, something is off... wouldn't be surprised if academics are found to not be in order but Nebraska leads for sure.
6. Wandale Robinson (4-Star, APB) [Frankfort, KY] - Robinson committed to Kentucky over Nebraska and Ohio State in the fall, surprising many in the process. Nebraska isn't going down without a fight before signing day though. Held has already visited and Frost and the entire offensive staff are supposedly visiting next week. This could go down to Dec. 19th yet again... Update: Wandale has since flipped to (Nebraska)
7. Matthew Pola-Mao (4-Star, DT) [Chandler, AZ] - Palo-Mao would have been a national recruit, and was after his sophomore year, but injuries his junior year and missing half the season his senior year due to transfer rules slowed his recruitment down quite a bit. He's also really close to his cousin... Noa Pola-Gates and the two have dreamed of playing together. He won't sign until February but Nebraska and ASU look to be head to head here.
8. TJ Jones (3-Star, WR) [Lake City, FL] - Jones currently has a top four of Louisville, Nebraska, Ole Miss and Tennessee. He has speed to burn, and decent size about him. Lousiville is without a head coach and Tennessee just lost it's OC to a new HC gig and Ole Miss is still under sanctions. Nebraska could be the most attractive option at this point but he has to visit first.
9. Brieon Fuller (3-Star, WR) [Miami, FL] - It's been pretty quiet on Fuller's front, he likes Nebraska, but Nebraska likes Jones better. Fuller was once committed to Miami but decommitted in April... At this points, best bets point to a Utah commit but if Nebraska pushes they would get a heavy look.
10. John Bivens (3-Star, RB) [Dayton, OH] - Bivens tore up his knee during his junior year, prior to that he was a consensus 4-star star player and one of the better RBs in the midwest. However, due to the severity of the injury he chose to spend his senior year rehabing and gaining strength instead of playing. As a result many schools dropped off his recruitment but Nebraska has not. He is visiting in January and has stated that he doesn't care how many RBs Nebraska has committed currently. He's a take if he wants to be.
11. Charles Njoku (3-Star, WR) [Wayne, NJ] - Njoku is a big bodied WR that Nebraska likes (6'5" 200 lbs) and enough speed to be a problem for defenses. However, the former Missouri commit has opened up his recruitment and if Miami isn't an option (both brothers attended Miami) then Nebraska could be in the driver's seat.
12. Victor Viramontes (3-Star, OLB) [Norco, CA] - Vic has been all over the place in his career but started off as a QB. He went back to JUCO to give LB a shot as he thought that was his best bet to the NFL. It seems to be working out so far, he has offers from many Power 5 schools including Nebraska, Ole Miss and TCU. Nebraska likes his speed and versatility. He might visit in January, Ole Miss looks like the team to beat.
13. Jamin Graham (3-Star, OLB) [Attalla, AL] - New offer and visit for this guy. Nebraska's staff has been in contact with him throughout the fall and really like his potential as an OLB pass-rusher in the 3-4 scheme. Signs are pointing to a Nebraska commit soon. (Nebraska)
14. Nehemiah Pritchett (3-Star, CB) [Jackson, AL] - Nebraska wants to get players out of Georgia and Alabama on a regular basis and Pritchett is one of those possibilities. He has a frame to mold, is athletic, and can cover. He is committed to Auburn but will take a visit to Nebraska in January. Definitely one to watch.. (Auburn)
15. Dru Mathis (3-Star, LB) JUCO [Ventura, CA] - Mathis visited for the MSU game and loved it. He is high on the board as a pass rusher that could come in right away and make a difference. Nerbaska seems to be ahead of the other suitors (Illinois, Baylor, and TCU) but a visit to TCU could change things.
16. Winston Wright (3-Star, WR) [Savannah, GA] - Winston is a current WVU commit but has been looking around of late and Nebraska popped up as an interest. He is said to be visiting in the winter months, though an exact date is not known yet. Nebraska could work to flip this speedster from the Big 12. (West Virginia)
17. Jamel Starks (3-Star, ATH) [Decatur, GA] - Starks visited Nebraska early in the year and is likely a take if a few other options fall through. Nebraska likes the idea of poaching underrated talent out of states like Georgia and Alabama and Starks fits that bill.
18. Tavian Mayo (3-Star, CB) [Leesburg, GA] - Similar to Starks, Nebraska likely takes one but not the other.
19. Jayme Simmons (3-Star, OT) [Alabaster, AL] - It's no secret that Nebraska needs Tackles in this class and if Ike and Benhart don't work out together a guy like Simmons could fit the bill.
20. Tony Wallace (3-Star, CB) JUCO [Las Vegas, NV] - Wallace is another JUCO player that Nebraska's staff would like. Interestingly enough, the previous staff almost flipped Wallace from Arizona when they were here. He ended up going to Zona but went to JUCO after Rich-Rod got fired. Now Nebraska is a likely destination.
21. Datona Jackson (3-Star, DE) JUCO [Union City, OH] - One time a Colorado commit, Jackson reopened his recruitment after CU fired their HC at the end of the season. Since then UCLA, Nebraska, and Florida came calling (just to name a few). He will visit Florida next weekend but Nebraska would really like to bolster their front 7 with a talent like him.
22. Brant Banks (3-Star, OT/DE) [Houston, TX] - Nebraska really likes Banks a lot more than recruiting services do and they like him at a different position as well. Many think he's an OT at the next level but Nebraska is recruiting him as a strong side DE. It's been quiet since his visit but seems to still be down to Nebraska or Baylor at this point.
23. Amare Barno (NYR, OLB) JUCO [El Dorado, KS] - Barno is supposed to be visiting next weekend but Nerbaska is currently his only power 5 offer to date. Held must see something here that other schools haven't yet. He is the prototype OLB for Chinander's system standing at 6'6" 220lbs but the lack of offers could be a red flag or a diamond in the rough... I guess time will tell. Florida Atlantic is the other school to watch currently.
There you have it... did I miss any names? It will be interesting to see who comes out of this group.
