Well I was just kidding around.... but if you want to discuss "relevance"....

Whats the relevance of being 3-0 after three games?

Because only one of the last five super bowl winners was also 3-0 at this point in their super bowl season!!! Statistically being 3-0 means you won't go all the way.

It doesn't mean you will go all the way but the chances of you making the playoffs/winning your division significantly increases when you're 3-0 instead of 0-3 or 1-2

what if you're number one in your division at 1-2 what it mean for your chances of wining your division? I want to start and 1-2 thread and need some material.

Sorry thats not true either.

Division winners from last year and their records after three games.

Washington 1-2
Green Bay 1-2
Atlanta 3-0
SF 2-1
NE 1-2
Baltimore 2-1
Houston 3-0
Denver 1-2

In fact more 1-2 (4) teams won their division than 3-0 (2) teams and as many teams who started out with a 1-2 record last year won their division as the number of teams with a 3-0 and a 2-1 record COMBINED.

You were most likely to win your division last year with the following record in the following order...

1-2 (4 teams)
2-1 (2 teams)
3-0 (2 teams)

So as you can see, you were just as likely to win the division with a 3-0 record as you were with a 2-1 record, but you were not nearly as likely to win your division with a 3-0 record as you were if you had a 1-2 record. You were twice as likely to win your division last year if you had a 1-2 record than if you had a 3-0 record after three games. OUCH!

I get sick of hearing Steelers fans use stuff like that as their only defense to any argument...

Seahawk fans have heard this beaker song for quite some time.

As a laugher, we know when he resorts to the Lombardi schtick, he is running out of ammo.:bawling:

How many 3-0 teams though then missed the playoffs last year? Only one I can think of was Arizona not making it.

Since 1990 75% of teams starting 3-0 have made the playoffs. I like those odds.

I am just refutting the claim that if you go 3-0 you are more likely to win your division. Its not true by a long shot last year. And typically the super bowl winner wins their division.

If having a 3-0 record means you get into the playoffs as a wildcard team more frequently is that something to celebrate? Not saying you shouldn't be happy, but to really think you have the upper hand on the season?

Since the Wild Card System began in 1970, only ten wild card teams have advanced all the way to the Super Bowl. Of those, six won the Super Bowl. Only four of those wild card teams -- New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Giants, and Green Bay Packers -- won three games on the road to make it to the Super Bowl.

Whats interesting there, is that as a wildcard its a long shot to make super bowl, but if you do make it statistically you will win it. Either way 3-0 at the beginning of the season equals wild card more often than division win.

are you for real, do you take this that seriously? they are just happy to not have lost and you can't blame them, for that, because you'd feel the same way.

Last year 50 percent of the teams that won their division had a 1-2 record last year.
Last year 25 percent of the teams that won their division had a 3-0 record last year.

Since the inception of the wildcard team, only six wildcard teams have ever won a super bowl. Or if you don't win your division but make the playoffs you have a 13 percent chance of winning the super bowl.

So I like those odds for you too.!

I don't blame them for being happy I would be too. I am pissed we are 1-2, I don't deny it.. I was just responding to someone saying that if you have a 3-0 record right now your more likely to win the division. Its not true, at least based on last year. And not even close to being true.

Probably where the saying comes from... its not how you start the season its how you end it.

Also he's using percentages, which is besides the point. Last year there we only 2 teams that started out 3-0.
NFL Standings: After 2012 Week 3

So duh, of course there were more teams that won their divisions that started with a lesser record. Breaker must of flunk math if doesn't think that, starting 3-0 gives you a better chance to succeed then being 2-1 or 1-2.

I'd rather be 3-0 against something then 1-2 against anything. The worst thing would be 1-2 and saying that's what you wanted all along.

Amazing how few on this board can even count to 3 and a bunch of 1-2 and 2-1s are crashing this and getting into fights. Lots of butthurt out there in NFL land from fans who can't handle their teams performances so far.

Sorry to the 0-3s, 1-2s, and even 2-1s, but

I'd rather be 3-0 than be 1-2 and bragging about how great it feels to be butt-hurt and defensive.
There are some pretty good teams out there that have not played well yet. Trying to use new math to explain how friggin happy you are is pretty good entertainment.
