Maybe you need to go back and play fallout 3 again to see just how much it has improved.

Is the dog AI improved? In both FO3 and Skyrim, the dogs were a net negative to the game play because they always got in your way. An AI upgrade is sorely needed.

The dog is a great ally. I picked up a fat man, mini gun and power armor.

Game took about an hour to really get going but now I'm pretty hooked. Only got 2 hours of gameplay in so looking forward to banging out 3-4 hours tonight.

You can get the Cryolator early by taking dogmeat into the overseer's office and telling him to fetch something. He'll destroy the case and get you one of the OP guns of the game.

Great for boss/deathclaw fights.

Dog meat wouldn't retrieve for me that way.

I'd forgotten how much 'run away!' you have to do in this game. I did the car factory this morning, and even though the raiders weren't that tough, there was a shvt ton of them, and their AI was pretty solid, so I spent a bunch of time having to scoot off to heal up or just put some distance in between so I wouldn't get rushed.

When you do get through a level, you have a feeling of having accomplished something, without it being as stupidly hard as Demons Souls.

Mirelurks look weird in this game, compared to fallout 3. Like a buzzy beetle from super mario.

Yeah, I went to the Lonely church today and it has a door going into Fallen recon station, wasn't prepared for all the handful of turrets and the tougher raiders, but managed and picked up another fatman.

Just started. Even with my lower end PC it's running well and look quite good. I'm hooked though.

My biggest problem is I keep hitting the Fallout 3 commands and trying to figure out how this game works compared to the previous Fallouts.

So many questions. What the point of having 4 10 mm pistols? (beyond mods and selling them).

Can you repair them like Fallout3

I got that part. I've already modded one of my four 10 mm pistols. There doesn't seem to be the concept of items wearing out and needing repairs. I've just started though. I'm still fumbling around with the new vats and favorites system.

I am not looking forward to the new V.A.T.S. system. cycling through the different targets was awkward at best in FO3, so making time NOT stop while in there seams to me to be a fools errand.

How is purchasing handled? Do vendors have X caps that refresh each day, or do they have constant X caps (like Oblivion).

How are containers handled? I really like the UI in FO3 where containers are organized the same way your personal inventory is, and you can see both inventories at once. In Skyrim, containers were simply dumped into a single "bucket" so it was near impossible to find a specific item.

Building settlements is its own fun game, I am enjoying that as much as adventuring. Though I think an overhead camera would make it easier.

It depends on where you are. I had to ask him from several different spots. The spot that worked for me, was right inside the doorway to the overseers bathroom area.

Yeah I'm liking it a lot so far. Ironically the graphics are the best I've personally seen in a Fallout game. I have a minimal spec machine running at primarily medium graphics and it looks and moves great.

I'm getting the hang of it. The new VATS is still quite workable but now you know you don't have forever even though you do have a lot of time.

It's a surprise to feel yourself getting beat up while using it, since time no longer stops completely. That really is more realistic and people can no longer use that "cheat" to pump themselves full of stimpacks during the middle of a big fight.

My only complaint so far is that I spend a lot of time moving back to my home base to unload yet another big pile of junk.

I've been modding a lot of guns and armor (screws seem to be a valuable resource) but I have too many variations to use them all. I can't wait to get to a trader where I can sell some of them off and get some cash to buy ammo. I'm still a long way from Boston.

Taking stuff home is easy, after I clear out an area I load down dog meat and myself with just enough so I can still fast travel and choose anything that is left that I want to take back I leave in some random container to come back after I unload my stuff back home.

The dog does get in your way in enclosed spaces. I'd much rather just travel by myself. The difficulty is on very hard so I have to be smart in the way I attack a band of bandits, a little difficult but I enjoy a high level of difficulty. I also don't use VATS or power armor. Other than the lame Bethesda animations the game is a step up from FO:NV.

Really disappointed with the lack of a built-in hardcore mode but there should be a mod for it pretty soon. Glad I bought it on PC.
