How many people think the league's power teams have changed from West to East?

Please, no trolling but does it look like the East has gotten much stronger? I am talking top to bottom.

I think it's even now, so I agree that there's been a shift. The West seems more of a wide-open conference, but the strength that Buffalo, Washington and the Rangers have added really make me question how safe the playoffs are for the Bruins, Penguins, Flyers front-runners. Hopefully that makes the All-Star game more watchable... but it won't.

I'd say the East has gotten a little bit stronger.

Team by team from the East this year, as I see it.

Boston = last year
Tampa Bay = last year
Washington > last year
Philadelphia < last year
Pittsburgh > last year (healthier year for their stars)
Buffalo > last year
Rangers > last year
Habs > last year
Carolina = last year
New Jersey > last year
Isles > last year
Atlanta = last year
Toronto > last year
Florida = last year
Ottawa < last year

Overall I see 8 teams as significantly better than they were last year, 2 teams notably worse and 5 teams about the same.

Overall I say the conference gets more competitive.

If you have no opinion fine but as I said just looking for feedback on what posters think.

Previous post aside I think the West is still slightly stronger.

Vancouver < last year (still probably the favourite)
San Jose > last year
Detroit < last year
Nashville = last year
Chicago = last year
Anaheim = last year
Phoenix < last year
Los Angeles > last year
Dallas < last year
St. Louis > last year
Columbus > last year
Calgary = last year
Minnesota < last year
Colorado > last year
Edmonton > last year

In the West I just think more teams took a step back (most of them very small).

I think the East definitely has a chance of talking the head-to-head matchup with the West and the snappy t-shirt that goes along with that accomplishment...

lol no man, I am totally fine with you starting this thread. It is just my personal opinion that in the end it really does not break down to what conf. is better team by team.

I am all for you guys talkign abotut his, that is just my thought on it

I don't think the power teams have changed much. Vancouver, Detroit, San Jose, Boston, Washington, Pittsburgh will probably win their divisions.

East teams that definately are thinking playoffs: Buffalo, Tampa, Philly, NYR, Montreal, Carolina, New Jersey, Winnipeg.

West teams that are definately thinking playoffs: Chicago, LA Kings, Anaheim, St. Louis, Nashville, Calgary, Columbus, Minnesota.

I think the East has made some headway in terms of overall competitivesness against the West. Of course it helps when Dallas & Phoenix lose their best players for nothing & Edmonton is in the West.
