so much for Carson's playoff run.

Carolina is too good, Ted Ginn Jr too fast, and Cam Newton too hard to defend.

Somebody with more patience than me should go back and look for all those posts we used to make about Cam Newton.... There would be some crow to be served. The guy is a star.

I think I was fairly high on Cam, but I also said Kaepernick would crush with the Bengals roster :poke:, so who knows?

I'm watching the football game and the Royal Rumble while doing a care plan for a patient. Editing isn't my main concern on here.

I think Kap got a bad deal. He played good football with Harbaugh as his coach. Had some problems the last year with Harbaugh, but that team was completely fractured because of a dysfunctional front office.

somewhere Mike Brown is sipping some warm coffee so he can stay up and watch Carson Palmer get his ass beat.

Newton is taking too many hits. He's good now, but unless he changes his style of play, I feel his level of play will only go down. RG3, Kapernick just to name two that could qualify to "where are they now" status due to too much running around.

I like Newton.

What he does works, for now.

The question is: What kind of QB will he be in 3-4-5 years when he can't run nearly as much. It's going to happen at some point. Will he develop enough passing skill to stay on top? So far, he's looked pretty good this year passing. A few issues still are noticeable (Mostly, very little touch on short to intermediate routes), but nothing that can't be fixed from what I see.

*Edit - I have no idea if I liked him originally coming out of college or not. I tend to be shy on guys who rely on running so much at this position because the majority of them never develop their passing skills. But, he's clearly proved a lot (A LOT) of people wrong about him.

The one thing that makes Cam different than other 'running' quarterbacks is his size. He's not getting by on his quickness/shiftiness..... He is a very big dude with good straight line speed. Yes, he'll slow down over the years, but he'll never lose his size and he'll always be fast (maybe not as fast as he is now, but fast nonetheless). And he becomes a better passer every season. Look what he did this year with a gang of receivers that weren't highly thought of.

Right. Agreed with his passing, which I did state above. He's improved.

Yes, he's bigger, but eventually hits take their toll, especially on QB's who are often hit while not being protected at times. I agree his size will always be a factor, much like Big Ben. I think as he continues to improve his passing, his size will go from a running advantage, to more of an extending plays (again, like Ben) advantage. This is, of course, assuming that he continues to develop his passing. This year he showed what he could do passing with, as you said, was a very poor crop of WR's.

We call that guy Ben Roethlisberger.

Agreed.

I believe I said that in another post somewhere. If he can continue to develop his passing, he'll move from a QB who can run as a threat, to a Ben type who is a threat to just extend plays because he can't be brought down on an initial hit.
