So are we expecting Gionta to be the guy on the 4th line? How long of a leash do we give this guy? If he slips up Harrold is right there to take his place, does that happen quickly since it's the playoffs or is he there unless some disaster happnes?

If Gionta is in he'll help solve the playoff beard shortage. The kid looks pretty grisly.

He's obviously getting pretty jacked up here to start the playoffs, let's hope that he can funnel all that intensity into his game.

At times I wish Parise was more vocal. He's a great lead by example guy but I wish he would share some of the burden with Kovy when it comes addressing the media.

yeah i was thinking the same thing. it seems everytime i read fire and ice its always kovy kovy kovy which i dont mind but zach is the captain he has to speak up. actions do speak louder then words and neither of them have done much in the playoffs so we will see.

That was a solid story. Interesting comments like how they are the most prepared now then in any other playoffs? If this is the case I have tons of confidence and would be shocked if they come out flat. This should be a sweep

Another thing I read that gives me some faith, is this is the first time since the dynasties teams that this isn't Brodeur's team. He really isn't the focal point the way he was in prior years. This really has become the Kovy/Parise team. Hopefully with a little less pressure Brodeur can thrive.

Thoughts on game 1:

The role players were solid. I thought Gionta, Bernier, Carter, Zubrus all had tremendous games. We need to keep that up going forward.

Top 2 lines were good but could be better. If Theodore is a righty instead of a lefty Parise probably scores on that backhand breakaway.

Salvador was throwing people in that game, we need more of that. I thought Greene actually looked a lot better than he has recently. Volchenkov had a terrible game. The 2 goals were directly because of him. He left Marty hanging out to dry and looked nervous. He was all over the place, and not in the good way.

We knocked the dust off after a long break. So, I hope our key guys turn it up a notch & then we get some higher level of play from someone we don't expect it from.... That's playoff hockey
