I wonder if the two fights in the clubhouse last week will dampen the odds? :D

Pecota has difficulty incorporating imaginary events into the odds.

Latest Pecota playoff odds

.............Exp W...Champions...Wild Card
Braves........90.8.....0.49.........69.7
Padres........90.5.....47.4.........12.1
Giants........90.4.....45.2.........11.9
Rockies.......88.2.....7.4..........5.8

Now a virtual dead heat. One thing pecota cannot account for is a team that quits playing, i.e. the dodgers.

Giants really must win tonight's game because it really looks like the dodgers don't care and will get swept. Really.

I think that's one of the things that would bother me the most if I were a fan of the Dodgers. There's just no fight or no pride in that dog. I mean even after the Manny sell off that line up should still be pretty legit. Talent-wise, I'd take Ethier over anybody the Giants can throw in RF (even though he's been in a horrible slump since the injury), I'd take Kemp over anybody the Giants can throw in CF (ok, not Torres for this year, but you get the idea), and I'd take Furcal over any SS the Giants can put in there.....Loney is no slouch either. Their pitching obviously isn't as strong as ours, but Kershaw, Bills and Kuroda ain't exactly chopped liver either and Kuo is one of the best bullpen arms in the game. Fuckers.

And I believe your above post is 100% spot on even though I don't understand how the Dodgers can be that bad at baseball. Instead of playing loose and having fun, they're lying down dead in the dirt.

Something is really dysfunctional in that clubhouse. If I had to guess, I'd say Torre lost his players when he called out Kemp - and they have just quit on him. Isn't that little prick Bowa on the staff, as well? He could rub you the wrong way too.

I definitely think that Kemp is right in the heart of the trouble with the Dodgers. That guy absolutely, positively looks like he just does not care about playing baseball right now. Torre called out Kemp and Bowa definitely jumped on the bandwagon saying something to the tune of "I don't think Matt Kemp is tired when he leaves the stadium, I think he could play another game right after". Basically insinuating that Kemp doesn't hustle nor leave it all out on the field. Interesting story down there though for sure. Looks like word is leaking out (although I don't know how accurate the report is) that Ethier is already lookign to play elsewhere.

I'd like to see the Giants sign Loney - just to see Cazic blow a cork :D

So... the Giants are scoring 4.33 Runs/Game, and giving up 3.63.

Plugging that into a Pythagorean formula yields a winning percentage of 0.587, and applying that to the final 9 games yields 5.3 more wins. So a simple pythag is now "projecting" the Giants to a 91.3 win year.

Wow. Yesterday was a big swing. The Pads went from 57% to 49% and the G's went from 57% to 70%... The Rox went from 13% to 7.5%. Nice to see them essentially out of it. Anything less than a sweep for them this weekend and they are out. If we are able to win tonight, I think there is a good chance we sweep them and take the division.

Tonight's game is BIG!! (although not must win for us)

Can't see a Giants sweep under any circumstances. Coors has just been the scene of too many excruciating loses over the last couple of years.
