Gotta think the Habs would want either Draisaitl + or Hall +. Or mayeb the Coil's first this year, depending on where it lands.
Assuming (correctly) Edmonton gets Matthews, does something like Hall and Matthews for Subban, Galchenyuk and Montreal's first work? I know Galchenyuk earned some pretty good reviews as a centre but putting him on a second line as a winger with Draisaitl has to be pretty tempting.
So the Habs now know what the Oilers knew three years ago
Petry > Subban
It's a weird situation when we're talking about a first overall pick that will likely be a 1C for years to come and it actually makes more sense for the drafting team to trade him.I think Montreal would like a dman back to offset the loss of PK, BBB. Would Edmonton add Klefbom to that package? As you say, Matthews would be a huge game changer if/when the Oil win the draft lottery.
